Westland M48 Seaking RAF for FS2


The Seakings were airborn for the first time on July the 26th 1976.
A few months later, on the 8th of november, the five Seaking were flown to In 1959 Westland in England obtained permission to build under licence the Sikorsky S-61B, to replace the Wessex Anti-Submarine helicopter of the Royal Navy.
The plane was equiped with different electronic instruments for the Royal Navy, so the Seaking could be used as a multi-purpose heli. It was fitted with two computer-driven Rolls-Royce Bristol Gnome turbines.
The heli flew for the first time on the 7th of May 1969 as the 'HAS MKI' and the first Royal Navy Squadron obtained the planes in August of the same year.
In 1976, the pilots of the 40th SAR at Coxyde airbase in Belgium, followed a training at Royal Navy Culdrose Airbase (England) together with some of technical staff. Coxyde Airbase by the pilots of the first training. The official badge of the 40th Squadron is composed of a hand, who comes out of the sea, with on top of it a helicopter.



The yellow chopper is very well known to the people in Belgium, Northern France, the South of England and the Netherlands, for their risky search and rescue missions.

Just unzip the UKseaking.zip in your FS2000\AIRCRAFT subdirectory and transfer the files in GAUGES.zip to your FS2000\GAUGES subdirectory. (Almost all the gauges are FS2000 default ones, but some are not, so you will find them in the zip file)
