Scenery of Carrasco Intl Airport (SUMU) -March 2006 version 3, FS9 Juan Pablo Simonet

Since last September I have been working in this project using the version 2 as my start point, with the final objective of creating a realistic scenery, adding a passenger terminal area, hangars, actual runways and numerous structures in the area. Although the buildings are not photo-realistic, the textures used are very similar to the real ones. All these add-ons have the same coordinates and the airport positioning is almost like in aerial and satellite pictures.

This scenery includes:

-Passenger Terminal
-Jetway (or Airbridge) (Parking Stand 4)
-General Aviation and Cargo Hangar
-Runways and taxiways with actual sizes
-International Airport apron, with real GPS parking stand positions
-Military apron and Hangars
-Number 1 Military Base
-Periphery roads
-Airport main car entrance, parking and surrounding trees.
-Primary and secondary RADAR
-Montevideo Control Centre and Carrasco Tower buildings
-Weather Station buildings
-Illuminated aprons

Important!!! Parking notes

- Due to FS loading the aircraft on the apron using the CG as reference whereas in real life the nosewheel location is used, it is recommended that you disable the building crash option (FS Settings), as it COULD cause a crash. For added realism, when FS has finished loading the flight, slew (press Y) the aircraft in order to place the nosewheel right on the parking stand.

- I have included in the zip file the Parking Chart which includes the real GPS co-ordinates of the parking stands.

- In real life when there is a Boeing 757 or larger aircraft in parking stand 4 (jetway), bigger aircraft are not allowed to taxi in or out of slots 1, 2 or 3; only smaller aircraft.

- If you want to park in the GA hangars -known as "South Hangars"- you have to select stands known as "South Parking 30, 31 or 32". Otherwise, you can taxi to the West Apron and then head South till you find a small taxiway that takes you to the GA hangars.

-Also available is the Military Ramp, to use it choose stands named “Combat Parking 34, 35 (which is recommended for a Lockheed C-130 type aircraft). Furthermore there is stand "Combat Parking 33" which corresponds to the one used for the Uruguayan president’s aircraft and other nations’ presidential aircraft.

For better realism, I recommend that you download FS2004 Airport Environment Upgrade 7 textures, aeu7.zip.

Visit ur.vatsam.org for further information and charts for Uruguay.

This scenery was designed for the enthusiastic aviation community and especially for VATSIM pilots and controllers.
