Ballina District Airport (YBNA) - (only tested in FS2004)
*******************************

A very attractive small airport approximately 120 nautical miles from Coffs Harbour and a slightly shorter distance to Grafton and Lismore. This makes a good stopover for hopping down the east coast of Australia. The airport handles around 11 flight a day from Sydney and is also a busy GA aiport.

The size of the airport has allowed me to put in that extra detail which makes to terminal and surrounds very much "as in real life". Photographic textures are used throughout for the buildings and even the trees and shrubs are hand made macros from photographs at the airport. Thanks to the cooperation of Northern Airline Services - Mr Bruce Beesley the MD and Graeme from Ballina Council the relative position of all of the buildings are exactly to scale as shown on scale drawings of the airport.

AFCAD and Traffic Tools files are included to add extra AI traffic. For that reason and because of limited apron space no static planes have been used. In addition a landclass is included to make the airport ground texture resemble the real thing and also to widen the river behind runway 24.

The scenery concentrates on adding a realistic terminal to the airport and hangars which are as close as possible to the real thing. Many other details have been added all authentically Ballina. The default runway detail remain unchanged with the exception of VASI placement. Other than that the airport merges into the default scenery without the usual "green oasis" effect.

Full night lighting is included plus a rather dubious attempt to model the inside of the terminal (strictly not to be taken too seriously)

Installation
************

1) Move the unzipped "Ballin new" folder to wherever you place your add-on scenery - perhaps in the FS2004 Add-on folder or as in my case to a folder called New Scenery in the main FS2004 directory.

2) Move the file trafficnewbal.bgl into the folder fs2004\scenery\world\scenery folder. This will add extra traffic to Ballina. Set the traffic level to 100% from the control/settings menu in FS2004 to see all of the traffic.

3) Start up FS2004 and use settings/scenery library to add the scenery into the library.

4) Move the folder Ballina landclass to wherever you keep your add-on scenery and use the settings/scenery library to add this into the library. This must be one below the Ballina New foler. For example

3 Ballina
4 Ballina landclass
5 Grafton

etc.

5) Restart FS2004 and select Ballina in the main "flight to" menu. To see the terminal select the start runway as being GA Small 6 from the start runway box (bottom of the page). You will then need to look around (to see where the other planes are parked) before pressing shift p with 1 or 2 to push back the plane. Otherwise select any of the start positions shown.

A very large thankyou to Bruce Beesley and Graeme Green for organising aerial maps, drawings and access to the airport airside.

As always none if this would be possible without the brilliant designers of Airport for Windows -Pascal Meziat, Brian McWilliams and Tom Hiscox.

All macros except below where developed using Rafael Garcia Sanchez's Nova with textures mainly my own. Limited use of FSDS was also made.

Martin Wright's BMP2000 did it's usual great work on tranparency textures.

A quick thankyou to Harald Kraft (cars) whose macros slotted in very nicely in the scenery. How about giving us your email Harald so I can thank you personally?

Add to the "team" Ian Murray with the wonderfully easy to use Coast-line maker and Russel Dirks with the also easy to use EZ Landclass.

Finally thanks to Steve James from Redcliffe who took out time from his many projects to beta test the scenery.

Any comments will be answered - good or bad. If you enjoy it let us know.

Other scenery available for 2004 - Coolangatta (Gold Coast) (ybcg) and Kingaroy District (ykry) and Grafton (ygfn)
