FS2002Pro/CFS2 Consolidated P-30A
The Consolidated P-30A was the first USAAC fighter to have both retracting landing gear and a turbine powered supercharger. Some of the later deliveries were designated PB-2A which stood for "Pursuit Biplace". It should be noted this was the last 2 place USAAC fighter, obstensibily because every time the plane did fighter manuvers the gunner would become violently air sick because he was so far away from the cg. The Navy gave up on 2 place fighters about the same time (the Grumman FF-1 was the last for that service). My interest in modeling this plane is strictly the fact I think it is one of the better looking planes of the early 1930's.
This model is painted for the 94th squadron located at Selfridge Field. Michigan. Thanks again to Mick Morrissey for the squadron insignia and other paint info.
I created this model with FSDSv2 and produced it directly into CFS2 and then copied it back into FS2002. This keeps the .mdl structure such that it will be visible in both simulators. It has the usual moving parts plus a spinning turbine wheel, transparent sliding canopy and a specular color shine. The nav lights turn on and off with the "L" key (FS2002 only). I have included a simple .dp file where the forward firing guns are on the primary trigger and the aft gun on the secondary trigger.

INSTALLATION: Unzip ConP30.zip into a temporary folder. Decide which simulator you are going to use. Copy the folder Consolidated P-30 into the Aircraft folder of the chosen simulator. Open the gauges folder and copy the contents into the Gauges folder of the chosen simulator. Close everything and fire up the simulator. This plane will show in the aircraft selection list of FS2002 under Consolidated as the P-30. It will show in the CFS2 aircraft selection list as P-30.

PANEL:The 2D panel is loosely based on a photo of a Consolidated A-11 panel which was a one-of-a-kind prototype attck version of the P-30. I have only tested it at a resolution of 1240 X 768.

SOUND: I have aliased the Corsair sound because it is available in both sims but this plane really needs an in-line engine sound. I haven't found any Curtiss Conqueror sounds available so I recommend any of the Allison sounds sets available for the P-40.

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise just give me credit for the original design. This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
