*** Snowbirds 1-9 for MS Flight Simulator 2002 ***
**************************************************
**************************************************

based on original work by:
John Cooper (cooperj@nortel.ca):
Original CT-114 Snowbird plane for FlightSim, exterior textures, .mdl file

Brian McNeil & Marc St-Onge (mstonge@jkl.net):
CT-114 Panel, Sounds, Gauges, updated .air file

What I added:

* Snowbirds 2-9
* GPS support -- now you can use FlightSim's default GPS gauge in your Snowbird
* Smoke System enabled -- Snowbirds...Smoke on now!
* "CAF" on underwing of Snowbirds
* Updated colour of "Canada" and 114xxx on tail of planes
* Updated Canadian flag on tail of plane with better graphic
* Added SmartRisk logo on canopy
* 2001 Pilot information in plane selection box
* Automatic installation

To do:

* Fix smoke system -- smoke comes out of flaps currently, should come out of exhaust

Thanks:
SB4 2000-2001 Capt. Chris Van Vliet for letting me know the Snowbirds' registration numbers
John Cooper, Brian McNeil, and Marc St-Onge for their great work on this model
William Roth for AirEd
Luis Vieira de Sa for TexBmp
Christian Maas for XVI32
Jordan Russell for Inno Setup

Here are some quick keys that will help you with your flying:

Shift 2 - Brings up the Snowbird center console ( for changing the Tacan
Frequency).

Shift 3 - Brings up the IFR screen. You can use this screen to simulate
IFR flight ( Also makes gauges easier to read - for fine detail)
Toggle this screen on or off as desired however, initially it will
take a couple of seconds to load.

L - will turn on panel lights for night flying.

Ctrl L - will turn on Landing lights

/ - extends\retracts your Speed Brakes

Ctrl 1 - ident Vor station

Ctrl 2 - ident Tacan station

Ctrl Shift F1 - will flame out your engine. Obviously you won't want to do this unless
you're ready to conduct a PFL, as I'm not going to tell you how to get
a relight!!!

SOME HELPFUL HINTS:

Due to shortcomings in FS98, some changes had to be made in our version of the Snowbird.

1. The TI will ONLY work off of Nav1 (the radio on the main panel). Therefore, if
you want to track the Tacan out on the TI, you will have to dial it in on
your Nav1. You will be able to track both using the DRMI.

2. Tacan frequencies don't work in FS98. Therefore, UMJ will be found by dialing
109.9 MHz in either navaid.

3. Comm frequencies don't go below 118.000 so Moose Jaw ATIS will be found at 124.8
MHz.

4. The Heading in the TI window can only be set through the SET knob on the face.

5. Due to the fact that this is just a simulation, you will find that aircraft handling
is somewhat different. To compensate, cheat!!! If you are having problems due
to the aircraft not trimming up very well, you can use the hidden autopilot
features.
z turns the autopilot on (no indications of this)
Ctrl z altitude hold
Ctrl h heading hold
Warning - Don't rely on this system. It's pretty rudimentary and may cause
some erratic flying.

6. Although this aircraft can be flown with the keyboard only, alot of the handling
problems mentioned above can be overcome with a joystick having buttons for
electric trim.

8. The parking brakes in FS98 are not strong enough to hold this aircraft at full
throttle, so don't go to 100% until ready to take off, then release the brakes.

9. Check all the knobs on the Panel. Some work, some do not!

NOTE: This aircraft was designed primarily for a training aid for students going through
flight training at 2CFFTS in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. For that reason, the aircraft
and panel where created as exact as possible. If you are looking for an ADF or
autopilot panel, you won't find it here, although I am working on a new gauge that
will include an ADF as per the real Snowbirds. Also, some of the gauges are different to use than their civilian counterparts. Good Luck and enjoy! All comments are appreciated.
