********Joe Williams OLF (KNJW) - Version 1.0 for FSX/Acceleration (Acceleration is required for some scenery objects)

Author: Brandon Thetford (thetfordb@verizon.net)

This is my second scenery project for FSX and my first attempt at designing some custom buildings along the ramp and LSO shack next to the runway. These are basic buildings and I had no photos or data other than the bird's eye view of Bing Maps to work with but for this simple scenery I think they work well. I hope to design more complex building models with my next project.

Navy Joe Williams OLF is located in Meridian, MS and is approx 20 nm NW of Naval Air Station Meridian which is home to Training Wing 1. TW-1 is comprised of VT-7 "Eagles" and VT-9 "Tigers" both flying the T-45C Goshawk. KNJW is used as an outlying field in order to take the traffic load away from NAS Meridian during periods of high density student training. This is the perfect place to practice your Field Carrier Landing Practice procedures as well as overhead approaches and emergency approach practice just like real student naval aviators!

KNJW is a towered airport and the frequency for tower and ground services is 118.475. The runway is 8000'x150' and both ends are equipped with an E-28 arresting cable. For more info on KNJW visit: http://www.airnav.com/airport/KNJW

I used many online resources including official Training Wing 1 documents in the design of this airport. I even explored the possibility of providing carrier deck lighting for night FCLP practice however I did not have the time to add this as it was too involved for me to tackle at this time...maybe in a future update?

In order to see all of the buildings, markings, fuel trucks, etc, you will need to download and install the following libraries. If you are using military sceneries already in FSX you likely have most of these already but you will need to make sure you have them for this scenery to work correctly.

****Add-on Libraries needed**** All are available at www.SurClaro

fsx_lts.zip - Ramp Lighting for FSX by Jim Dhaenens
JGSE.ZIP - John Stinstrom - Military Vehicles Library
rwy_mark.zip - Runway Markings by Lance Tucker

*****MAIW Add-On Libraries****

I would consider these "optional" however you will be missing some buildings if you don't install them. I use Military Ai Works packages in FSX without problems however some people do have issues because it can be difficult to install if you are looking for a quick installation. There is a guide available for using these packages in FSX. You will find the guide here: http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/pfn/navega.php?id=1&PHPSESSID=93dfdb88a9390c5b74354cd4962acfa7

You don't have to install the Ai aircraft if you don't want to. Just install the scenery and the buildings will be there. I highly recommend installing their Ai though if your computer can handle it...they are the best when it comes to military traffic packages! More on MAIW traffic at the bottom of this readme...

**********Installation Instructions**************

1 - Install the needed object libraries above accoring to their instructions
2 - The IFLOLS Trailers library is included in this package - Copy the IFLOLS Trailers folder to your main FSX/Addon Scenery directory
3 - Copy the KNJW Williams NOLF folder to your main FSX/Addon Scenery Directory
4 - Activate the folders for the object libraries, IFLOLS Trailers, and the KNJW Williams NOLF folder in your FSX Scenery Library.
6 - That's It! As long as you followed the steps above and remembered to activate the scenery in your FSX Scenery Library everything should be there!

I must give credit to the following for their great military scenery objects that they have allowed me to use in this project! Thanks so much!

- Jim Dhaenens - FCLP Cables, Landing Zones, Lights
- Lance Tucker - Runway Markings
- Sylvain Parouty - IFLOLS Library
- John Stinstrom - JGSE Library - Military Vehicles

********MAIW Traffic and other recommendations*********

If you have the Export Hawks Part 6:NAS Meridian Hawks package, you will find some Ai T-45C's flying patterns at Joe Williams NOLF at various times. They're not there always but they will do some touch and go's and fly back to Meridian NAS. The package is available here if you want to install it: http://www.militaryaiworks.com/Released_Packages/maiw_nas_meridian_hawks.zip

Check out their main website at http://www.militaryaiworks.com for all of their great packages!

Also, I wholeheartedly recommend installing John Stinstrom and Jim Dhaenens scenery of NAS Meridian for FSX. This gives you the home base of Training Wing 1 to depart out of for your flights out to KNJW. It is available at SurClaro and the filename is fsx_knmm.zip

If you are familiar with ADE you can modify the parking in the scenery package to fit perfectly with the MAIW traffic packages and have a ramp full of T-45s!

I hope you enjoy the scenery and hopefully I will have time to start working on my next project. Keep practicing those carrier landings!
