FS2000 AVRO Canada CF-105 Arrow

This amazing airplane flew Mach 2 in 1958 while it was powered with underrated test engines. It was very advanced for its days in just about any way one can imagine. Unfortunately the program was canceled in 1959 when the Canadian government decided it should rely on missiles for defense. Much has been written about this program; go to any search function such as Yahoo or Lycos and type in CF-105 and you will find many, many websites devoted to the rise and destruction of the Arrow. Makes for fascinating reading! None of these websites had drawings of the Arrow so I am very grateful to Tim Perry, Cal Booth, Stewart Clark and Keith Clifford for providing me with 3 views and other information necessary to complete this project. This project was created with FSDS for FS2000. I have not tried it in CFS2 but I believe it will work; possibly needing editing of the landing gear lengths in the .air file.

INSTALLATION: Unzip the file cf1052k.zip into a temporary folder. Copy and paste the folder CF105 into the aircraft directory of FS2000. Copy and paste the contents of the 'gauges' file into the Gauges directory of FS2000. Fie up FS2000 and this plane should show in the "select aircraft list as Avro CF-105 Arrow.

SOME FLIGHT NOTES: Please note this airplane accelerates very quickly; it starts to move as soon as the engines are started. You will probably want to use the spoilers after touch-down so you won't run out of runway. They are actuated with the "/" key and do have a slight pitch down movement since they are located under the fuselage. The afterburner flame shows above 85% rpm.

PANEL and SOUND: I wish to thank Keith Clifford of Pegasus Aviation who gave me permission to bundle the panel and sound files from his excellent FS98 Arrow into this project. The sound has an appropriate robust sound and the panel looks quite realistic.

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise a simple credit would be nice.
This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
