Fokker F-27Mk500 Friendship panel for FS98

This package includes the F27mk500 panel and plane. It is meant for those of you who want the entire package, and are down loading the plane and panel for the first time. This package includes all previous updates and fixes.

I am including two differant GPS's with this panel. The Trimble is the GPS that we use in the real plane, but it has proven to be very "buggy" and does not work on everybody's computer. Therefore, I have also repainted the ACS-GPS to match this panel, and have included it as well. Both GPS's are packaged seperatly in their own zip files. If you have trouble with the Trimble, just unzip, and install the ACS-GPS.

***TRIMBLE 2000 GPS***

The Trimble GPS is included and has its own set of installation and operating instructions
in the zip file. Please read, then install as per instructions. The Trimble GPS will NOT work in full screen mode, it will work in the full WINDOW mode. If flight Sim "Crashes", or will not run, please install the ACS-GPS, or reinstall the F27mk500 Aircraft.zip, as its panel cfg. file does not include either GPS, and will allow the panel to work with out any problems.


***ACS-GPS***

The ACS-GPS is also included and has its own set of installation and operating instructions
in the zip file. Please read the installation instructions, then install as per those
instructions. Once installed, go to the ACS folder created during the installation in your
Flight Sim directory for operating instructions.

Special features
***************************


***WORKING PROPELLER LIGHTS***

These lights function exactly like the propeller lights in the real F27.

The red lights are the propeller "Below lock lights". These lights indicate, when on, that the propeller is below 18 degrees. When power is advanced, these lights will go out, as the prop advances above 18 degrees of pitch blade angle. They also indicate the operation of the auto-coarsening system. (18 degree electro-hydralic lock.)

The amber lights are the propeller "Flight Fine Lock lights". These lights indicate, when on, that the Flight Fine Lock (20 degrees) is disengaged. As power is advanced further, these lights will go out, indicating that the 20 degree locks are engaged and prop has advanced above 20 degrees pitch blade angle. The "Below Lock lights" as well as the Flight Fine lock lights will remain out during all phases of flight, indicating that the Locks are in place in order to prevent the blade angle from finning off during flight and causing serious problems.

The Blue lights are the propeller "Cruise Lock Lights". These lights indicate, when on, that the Cruise Lock (32 degree) is disengaged. As speed increases, so does blade angle, when these lights go out, at aprroximatly 165 kts "true" airspeed, the locks are engaged, and the prop has advanced above 32 degrees. As you slow down, the prop's blade angle will decrease in order to maintain an "on speed" condition. As both prop's blade angles decreases to 34 degrees at the same time, the locks will be automatically removed. The blue light will come back on indicating that the 32 degree locks (Cruise Locks) have been removed.

Once you have landed, you should select ground fine pitch (Thrust reverse) which will disengage the "Flight fine lock", and return the prop to 0 degree pitch and keep the engines from over temping on the ground. (Max TGT on the ground of 550C) All propeller lights will come back on at this time.

***WORKING GPWS SYSTEM***

(Ground Proximaty Warning System.) This system again, is exactly like we have in the real F27. To test the system on the ground, click on the GPWS button on the panel. You should get a "Glide Slope", "Woop", "Woop", Pull UP". It will also count off altitude during final approach. (The GPWS test button is the red over grey button on the upper part of the main panel above the DME and Altimeter.) To disable the GPWS, click the Gray button below the Red
button. The Gray botton should flash 3 times, indicating that it is now disabled.


***WORKING V-SPEED BUGS & CARDS***

Hit shift 3 to view/hide the Vspeed cards. The V-Speed cards may be dragged to any portion of the panel you like. Click on the upper left or right hand corner of the Vspeed card to flip through and find the desired weight. To set the speed bugs for take off, click on the word "Take Off" and the speed bugs will be set automatically for that weight. Click on the word "Landing" to set the speed bugs for landing at the chosen weight. The speed bugs can be set manually by clicking on the corners of the airspeed indicator.


***REALISTIC RADAR ALTIMETER***

The Radar Altimeter in this panel has an adjustable decision height (minimums) bug with an alarm which will sound when you descend to pre-set minimum. ("minimums, minimums") The minimums bug is controlled by the mouse on the adjustment knob of the Radar Altimeter.


***REALISTIC RMI***

This panel also includes a realistic RMI. Now the RMI can be used for two Vor's at the same time as well as a Vor and a NDB like the one in our aircraft. Simply click the VOR/ADF switches on the lower left and right hand corner of the gauge to select between VOR and ADF.

***REALISTIC DME***

You will also notice that the DME may look a little differant. Again, this is custom made to look and function like the real one. To select DME from the number one or number two nav, just click on the DME selecter switch on the upper left hand side of the main panel.

***CUSTOM ENGINE INSTRUMENTS***

All engine gauges have been custom made to look and function exactly like the real F27Mk500 engine instruments. The indications you will see in flight, were taken from N284MA by me during an actual flight. Fuel gauges include fuel totalizer counters. These digits indicate the amount of fuel burned in pounds, and can be zeroed out at the end of the flight by clicking on the knob in the upper left hand corner of the gauge. The fuel burn on the flight model has been adjusted to reflect that of the real F27.

***WORKING HOSTESS CALL***

On the upper panel you will find working Hostess Call button which dings and lights up. All switchs on the panel will work, and have the proper "click" sound.


*** REALISTIC WHEATER RADAR***

Weather radar has been modifeid to look like actual F27mk500 wheather radar.


Almost all gauges in this panel have been custom made and programed by Me and Wade Chafe in order to accurately portray the actual look and operation of the instruments in a real F-27Mk500.


***AUTO PILOT***

The real F-27s operated by our company (which we based this panel on) do not have autopilots installed. But I have included one in this version of the panel. The auto-pilot may be
accesed by hitting shift 4. You can set the auto-pilot, then hide it again while flying, so that you have uninterrupted access to the radios.

Originally founded in 1974 as Lange Air, the Eagle Group of Aviation purchased the U.S. Part 135 operating certificate and the Part 121 certificate
of Viking International Airlines in December 1992, thus forming Eagle Canyon Airlines (Part 135) and Eagle Jet Charter (Part 121). Eagle Jet Charter over the years has operated
a wide variety of aircraft to include a DC-9-14, DC-9-82, MD-87 and a Lear 25B. Over the years the Eagle Group has focused more on the scheduled routes from Las Vegas, NV to
Grand Canyon, AZ as well as the tour routes. Today, Eagle Jet Charter operates the following aircraft:

1 Fokker F.27 Mk 600 (44 passenger)

Each operates with 2 Rolls Royce RR Dart Mk 532-7 (non-hushkitted) engines.
All aircraft operate with a 2 pilot crew and 1 flight attendant.
The F.27's for this company mark the last passenger-carrying Fokker Friendship F.27 operator in North America.

The Eagle Canyon Airlines part operates the following aircraft:

Flying the F27:
**************************

I have worked very hard to make this F27's flight characteristics as close as possible to the real aircraft. Wade has made exact duplicates of the engine instruments, which now look and read correctly so that actual power settings can be used.

F27 Speed limitations:

Max Gear Extension Speed-168kts.
Max Flap Extension Speed-144kts.
Never Exceed Speed-254kts.

(The following are the exact settings and profiles that we use in the real F27Mk500 aircraft, and these settings and profiles will yeild the same preformance in FS98, as in the real aircraft.)

Take Off:
1)Select appropriate V-speeds per V-speed card according to aircraft weight.
1)Smothly apply full power and accelerate to V-1 and rotate.
2)Rotate to 10 degrees pitch up, and retract gear.
3)Maintain 10 degrees pitch, and climb through 400 feet AGL.
4)Once through 400 feet AGL, reduce power to 14,200 rpm, and 730 tgt.
5)Adjust pitch to maintain 140kts in the climb. (Approximatly 5 degree's)
6)Once at cruise altitude, let the plane accelerate, and leave power set where it is for cruise.


Landing: (ILS)

1)Five miles from the final approach fix (outer marker) you should slow to 140kts. (Approximatly 140 to 160 lbs of torque)
2)One mile from the final approach fix you should set flaps 16, and slow to 130kts.
3)One and one half dot's below glide slope select gear down.
4)One half dot below glide slope select flaps 26 and adjust power and pitch to fly the glide slope at 120kts. (Approximatly 130 lbs of torque, and 7 degrees pitch down, 650 ft/min on the VSI)
5)Once airport is in site, and you are below 400ft. select flaps 40, reduce power, slow to V-ref and land.
6)Select Ground fine pitch (Thrust Reverse) before the aircraft decellerates below 55 kts.

NOTE: This aircraft has a very steep approach angle, and may require you to adjust the pilots view with the joy stick hat switch in order to gain the proper sight picture. Also, expect a big ballon on short final when you call for flaps 40!


The F27 should climb at approximatly 1,000 ft/min at 140kts and 05 degree's pitch up.
It should cruise at about 180kts indicated airspeed at the above mentioned power setting. (Depending on aircraft weight, OAT and altitude) This is the actual performance of the F27Mk500 loaded to about 40,000 lbs. Due to limitations in FS98, as well as the engine instrument programing, the preformance of this flight model is initially better than that of the real plane. I was forced to increase the low altitude preformance "slightly", in order to get the correct preformance at cruise altitude of 16,000 feet. This adjustment also effects torque indication at cruise, and fuel flow indication at full power during the first 400 feet of climb. Both of these engine instruments are programed to show the decrease in power as the plane climbs in altitude just like in the real F27. The torque indications are correct untill reaching higher cruise altitudes. At 16,000 feet, the torque indication is about 30 pounds less than the real aircraft. The initial fuel flow indications when full power is applied will peg out on the gauge, rather than indicate 1300 pounds per hour as in the real aircraft. After power is reduced to 14,200 rpm, once you reach 400 feet in the climb, the fuel flow will indicate accuratly for the remainder of the climb as well as the flight. These are the only deveations between the real plane and panel and this FS98 version, and I feel that overall, this is a very realistic flight model and panel.

INSTALLATION for Flight Simulator 98:
*************************************

THIS IS A 100 PERCENT ACCURATE PROTRAYAL OF THE FOKKER F-27 MK.500 PANEL.

This panel was based on actual photos from an F-27 at our Las Vegas
based company.

During the design of this panel we had to weigh the size of the instruments
with the realism of the panel due to the limitations of FS98. We wanted to
make a panel as real as possible, thus having slightly smaller instruments
which are still readable. This should work very well for IFR flight. This panel has
been tested at both 800x600 and 1024x768 with Flight Simulator 98, and also will work with 3Dfx video cards. 1024x768 is the recomended setting.



1)Unzip the F27mk500 aircraft.zip into the FS98 aircraft directory.
2)Unzip F27mk500 gauge.zip directly into FS98\Gauges directoy.
3)Unzip Gauge Sound.zip into FS98\Sound directory (NOT THE AIRCRAFT\SOUND DIRECTOY)!
NOTE: Please use the gauge sounds included, as they have been modified for this panel
4)Run flight Sim 98.

For the installation of either GPS, please see the included instructions in the individual
GPS zip files.



NOTE: Aircraft preformance will be deppendent upon aircrft design. Engine indications as well as fuel burn may be differant than stated if not used with my F27 air file.
