********** FS2004 (FSX compatible) Mirage G8.
********** Complete package version 2, 5 versions, with new panel, no VC.
********** by Pat Grange, May 2007.

The Dassault Mirage G8 was a twin engine fighter with variable sweep wings ("swing wings"), a very singular design for a Dassault aircraft. The Mirage G8 flew for the first time on May 8th, 1971, and demonstrated immediately an impressive level of performance, reaching Mach 2.04 during its 3rd flight ... The G8 was one of the guest stars during Paris Air Show in 1971. Unfortunately, only two prototypes were built before the decision to stop the program because of its cost and complexity ...

The model has full moving parts and an original custom 2D panel (an old original bitmap by me). No VC.

IMPORTANT :

- If you like French jet fighters of the Golden Age, please consider also my SNCASO Trident package (use version 3), and my Leduc 022, both available on simviation.com.

- The swing wings are operated with the flap key.

- You can fire or stop the flame of the jet engines by using the key usually attributed to the landing lights (usually "CTRL + L").

INSTALLATION:

(If you had installed the previous version of my Mirage G8, please remove it before installing this one).

Just unzip the file "MirageG8_V2.zip", your will obtain 4 folders :

One folder named "gauges" : just copy and paste all its content in the main "gauges" folder of your FS, = "Flight Simulator 9 / Gauges" for FS2004. Normally, you should already have some of these gauges. So, if asked to overwrite, please answer "no".

One folder named "Mirage_G8" : just copy this folder as it is, with all its content in the "aircraft" directory of your FS2004 (= "Flight Simulator 9 / aircraft").

One folder named "effects" : just copy and paste all its content (= one file only) in the main "effects" folder of your FS2004 ("Flight Simulator 9 / effects").

One folder named "docs" is here only for your information. Keep it where you want !

Launch FS2004. In the aircraft list, look for the manufacturer "Marcel Dassault", select the "Mirage G8" and choose one of the 5 versions (single seat, two seats, weapons or not ...).

That's all !

Take-off, and enjoy !

IMPORTANT NOTICES :

- The movement of the wings work with the flaps key.

- The other moving parts (gears, spoilers, canopies ...) work with the usual keys.

- You can fire or stop the flame of the jet engines by using the key usually attributed to the landing lights (usually "CTRL + L").

As the plane uses reflexive textures, do no forget to check that you have activated the "reflects" box in the menu "parameters / display / aircraft" !!!

************************************* IMPORTANT ***************************************************

If the color of the aircraft is not stable under daylight, just unselect the option "shadows of the aircraft" (the 2dn line), in the menu Options / Parameters / Display or Graphics / Aircraft.

CREDITS:

Thanks to Jens Winkler, for the pilot and the seat that I have taken in the freeware DO335 delivered with the FSDS2 package.

For the panel, I have mainly used stock gauges. For the other ones, I am sorry but I dont know the name of the authors. Just let me know and I shall be happy to add them to the credits.

Thanks for the Mirage sound ... I used to build one myself a few years ago, but I don't know the author of this one. Sorry for that !
