Simple scenery for the new private airstrip of the Voisey's Bay Nickel Company Ltd., who are mining the massive nickel resources recently discovered in the region between Anaktalak Bay and Voisey's Bay, Newfoundland, about 20 miles southwest of Nain. Scenery includes the airstrip with Afcad2 file (AI ready), the surrounding lakes and ponds, and a very basic rendition of the concentrator facility on Camp Pond, made with default FS9 buildings and landclass. Built as a special request for Kevin Pardy and the guys at Premier Aircraft Design. Tested with default FS9 mesh and landclass only!

Provincial Airways (Innu Mikun) fly personnel and supplies between here and Goose Bay on an almost daily basis.

INSTALLATION:
=============

EITHER:

1. Unzip this file to a temporary location.

2. Move the landclass file LC_031_011_VoiseysBay.bgl from the folder "Landclass" to wherever you keep your landclass files. (Or create a folder "Landclass" in ...\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery, create a subfolder "scenery", and put the bgl file in there. (NOTE: DO NOT create a "texture" subfolder!!))

3. Move the FOLDER VoiseysBay to ...\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\ .

4. Start FS9. From the start-up screen, go to Settings > Scenery Library >Add Area, and add the scenery area as usual. (If you have created a new Landclass folder, be sure to Add this first!!) Then OK out and exit FS9.

OR:

The easiest way to install is just to move all the .bgl files to ...\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery. It should work fine just like that, PROVIDED you don't have a \texture folder under \Addon Scenery!!!

DONE! You can now install repaints and flightplans to taste.
Airport.txt data for the airstrip is as follows:

CVB2,N56* 20.68',W62* 5.28',210

In detail:
CVB2 Voisey's Bay Airstrip, Voisey's Bay, Newfoundland, Canada
N56*20'41" W62*05'17", magvar 31W, elev 212', rwy 11/29 (110/290), 4003x200' (+1000' overrun), gravel
I've added runway edge lights and PAPI4 to both ends, but I've no idea if this is realistic!)

NOTES:
======
Official information for this airstrip is nonexistent. As a private strip, it is apparently not listed in the Canadian Flight Supplements. So, my scenery may vary quite considerably from reality in details such as elevation, runway width, lighting, navaids etc.!

I took the CVB2 code and runway numbers from www.uasc.com/documents/navdb/AptDB_Cumulative_Report.pdf - a database update report from Universal Avionics Systems Corp. - but can't find any other confirmation!
Airport elevation came from Google Earth, although the airstrip itself is not depicted.
Maps of the area from KEVIN PARDY and various internet sources.
