NYPD AVIATION UNIT PACK

First off, allow me to say that I created this small gesture to the Flight Simulator community as a means of saying thank you for all the wonderful work by those more knowledgable than I in creating Flight Simulator Add Ons. The work of hundreds of others has increased my Flight Simulator experience tenfold!
I am a retired NYPD senior officer who at one time was assigned to the NYPD Avitaion Division out of Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn. I was in the Bell in the photo used for making the first splashscreen....see me waving? No? Maybe your eyes are as bad as mine's been getting! :) This photo has been widely distributed on the net during the past several years.

Two splashscreens:

Number one, as mentioned above, is a photo that has been highly circulated on the Net. I was the observer (not the pilot) in that unit at the time this photo was taken, so I feel justified in using the photo instead of a screen capture....:). I added the appropriate logos using simple software and resized it for my screen resolution (1024x768), but I'm sure it will work fine with any resolution.
Number two is a personally taken screenshot of the NYPD Bell as I was hovering by The Brooklyn Bridge. Being a Brooklyn boy, making this and including in this package seemed manditory! :) Again, I added the appropriate logos using simple software and resized it for my screen resolution (1024x768), but I'm sure it will work fine with any resolution.
Installation: First, BACK UP your original splashscreen by copying it elsewhere on your drive and/or renaming it! The splashscreen is located in the "Flight Simulator\Uires" directory and is named "dlgsplash.bmp".
After backing up the original, copy the desired screen included and rename it "dlgsplash.bmp". The next time you run Flight Simulator, there it will be! :)

The NYPD Bell:
The included NYPD Bell is merely an added paint job to the existing Bell 602 that came with your Flight Simulator Program. To make it as easy as possible to install, just copy the entire supplied directory in to the original folder using "overwrite". REMEMBER TO BACK UP THE ORIGINAL DIRECTORY FIRST....just in case! In the Flight Simulator aircraft directory, the folder is named "bell206b".
Thanks to Adrian Cholmondeley (adrian.c@rcn.com) for the NYPD paint job I originally downloaded. A great job!! :) Permission for it's insertion into this package granted by Adrian on February 12, 2006 via E-Mail.

Saved Flight: "NYPD Aviation Unit - Floyd Bennett Field"
I have included a saved starting point of the NYPD Bell at Floyd Bennett Field..... :)
Saved flights are located within your personal "My Documents" folder, and not in the Flight Simulator files folders. In the following folder structure example, substitute "\Administrator\" with the name you are logged on with.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files\
Simply copy the two files located in the included "My Documents" folder into that folder. The flight will appear along with your personally saved flights in the lower menu section.

This file is distrubed as FREEWARE. I do not ask for donations. If you like it, have fun! If you don't like it, you have the right to remian silent...etc! LOL :)
I am not responsible for mishandling or damage. Always back everything up before installing anything new....just in case! Don't say I didn't warn you. Don't learn the hard way....like I did!
