ABOUT THE SCENERY:

This is my first creation of the new year. In truth, I've been working on this since before Christmas. I took a different approach with this scenery. There are 5 major sections to the airport and I treated each one like a separate airport. I have upgraded from FSDS2 to FSDS3. At this point in time I have not really used the new stuff to any extent. Some of the old functions have been changed and I am disappointed with that. I used EZ Scenery for the first time and made an amazing discovery which I will go into later. As usual, I also used the normal tools I've used in the past, namely Rwy12 and Lago's FSE. The AFCAD2 file has extentive modifications and Traffic tools was used for the AI traffic for those who don't use any of the other AI traffic generators.
Again, if you want to park at any particular FBO, here is the areas to request for a given FBO.

For Thunderbird Aviation request North Parking
Elliott Aviation Northeast Parking
Executive Aviation East Parking
Modern Avionics South Parking
ASI Jet Center/Modern Aero Northwest Parking

There is a small area that I left alone for "transient parking". You park there if you just request "Parking"
There are two animated hangars in the scenery from the Rwy12 collection. One is located at the ASI Jet Center. Open the doors by tuning your NAV2 radio to 112.00. The other one is located at Executive Aviation and it's frequency is 116.00on the NAV2 radio.

When creating this scenery I was following my usual steps in placing scenery objects with Rwy12. I'd place the pointer where I wanted the object in FS (in the Slew mode). Choose the object, sync it to FS. Add it to the list of objects then name the .xml file and compile. come out of FS, place the .bgl file in the scenery folder and restart FS to see the results.
As I was starting to use EZ Scenery by Abacus for the first time, I discovered that the library list for EZ also display the libraries for Rwy12. Though all of the Rwy12 objects were "untitled", if you clicked on it, you could see which object it was in FS through the EZ placement. So, many of the cars from Lars Extra Objects from Rwy12, was placed using the EZ Scenery program. The advantage turned out to be able to pricisely place an object without having to restart FS to see if the results were ok. The textures for the EZ Scenery are available from the Abacus Publishing website. No purchase is necessary for the library download. I hope you enjoy this scenery. It is also one of the states I have not created an airport in until now. Happy landings!!

INSTALLATION:

Author's Note:

After receiving many emails, I find that I am a little off the beaten path. My FS file structure is not the default setup. So as you read these instructions, keep in mind that most of the files will work from anywhere as long as FS knows where they are. If your file structure is C:\Programs Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\ it's ok. Just place or check to verify that certain files are in certain folders. I will refer to the above structure as the DEFAULT FILE STRUCTURE, and the following file structure as MY FILE STRUCTURE. Which is: D:\fs2004\ and my scenery files are in D:\fs2k4_scenery\.
I have it this way because I've also done scenery for fs2002 and I didn't want to get the two versions mixed up. (Bet'cha can't guess what the folder name for the fs2002 scenery is). So in explaining where the files go, I'll try not to confuse anyone, but if I do, please contact me for clarification.

AFTER UNZIPPING THE FILE kfcm_v1.ZIP TO A TEMPORARY FOLDER, HOPEFULLY, YOU ARE READING THIS README FILE.

If you don't have them already, download Lee Swordy's Traffic Tools v2x and AFCAD2x. Follow the instructions from the files and install them onto your system. While you're at it, download the texture files necessary for this scenery and put them into the main FS texture folder. They are: ASDv2.1, Nova, Nova Gold and NovaSim textures, plus my own custom textures. All are available for free at my website, www.lfssd.net (the "l" is an L, not a one). You also should download Rwy12 objects/textures. You don't need the complete Rwy12 program. (See the Rwy12 open letter on SurClaro or SurClaro.com search file rwy12_-_open_letter.zip). As mentioned above, you can get the EZ Scenery textures from Abacus' website.

Using the folders switch, unzip the file kfcmscen.zip to the drive where you have your FS. Using your file manager (Windows Explorer) check to make sure that all the files are in their proper folder.

C:\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files should have the .FLT and .WX files (This is for the Windows XP users.) For all other OS the .FLT and .WX files are under the main FS folder. (I think)
Drive:\FS9 folder\Addon Scenery\scenery should have AF2_*.bgl (Refer to Default file structure if different)
Drive:\FS9 folder\Scenery\World\scenery should have TrafficFlyingCloud.bgl
Drive:\fs2k4_scenery or Addon Scenery folder\KFCM\scenery should have the kfcm_*.bgl scenery files (The KFCM folder can also go under the Addon Scenery folder if you wish)
If you have Lago's FSE 2004, then check the following:
Drive:\FS9 folder\Lago\FSE\Data\should have FlyingCloud.SE2 for Static scenery and
Drive:\FS9 folder\Lago\Common\Tracks\should have FlyingCloud.OSC For dynamic scenery

Drive:\FS9 folder\KFCM\xml\contains the Rwy12 xml files for those who need the source files for the Rwy12 objects. If you do not wish to change any of the Rwy12 objects, you can delete these files.

Activating the scenery in FS9:

1. Start FS
2. At the Menu, select Settings
3. Then select Scenery Library
4. Select Add Area
5. Go to where you have the scenery folder in the file structure and just open the scenery name folder ie; (KDSM) Then click OK
6. Set the priority using the "D" Key or the Move Down button or the "U" Key or the Move Up Button
7. Click OK
8. Close FS and re-start
9. At the menu select "Select a Flight"
10. Scroll down to your flight, hightlight and click FLY NOW
You're at the airport of your choice. Go fly.

You should be ready to fly. Happy landings!
