FS2004 North American P-51D Swedish Air Force

Who don't knows the Mustang?
It was the best land-based fighter of the war, and after the war, every country and many particulars had at least one. Even today, you can find Mustangs in flying condition in many airports of the world.

Usually when you think about Mustang users, you think about European and North American ones. But the Mustang was used by almost every Air Force of the world.

In 1944, the Allied Powers admitted the Swedish Air Force to buy fighter aeroplanes. The most important matter was to equip the Fighter Wing F 16 at Uppsala with modern aircraft. In March 1945, 50 Mustangs were purchased for F 16. This number included four machines which had made emergency landings in Sweden during combat missions during the war and been retained here. Two of these were the older version P-51B, "Razorback". 46 aircraft were flown from the UK by American pilots in March and April 1945. All Mustangs, both P-51B and P-51D were given the Swedish designation J 26.

In March 1946, further 90 P-51D Mustangs were bought, this time for Wing F 4 at Östersund, which now was to be converted to fighters. A last batch of 21 aircraft was purchased, intended for F 21 at Luleå, the most northern Air Force Wing. Twelve of these Mustang were rebuilt as reconnaissance aircraft and thus got the designation S26.

The J 26 was fitted with a Packard-built Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1650-7 (or in some cases V1650-3) engine developing max. 1720 (1650) hp. It was armed with six 12,7 mm automatic cannons.

Most of the Swedish Mustangs were later resold abroad. Israel bought 25, the Dominican Republic 42 and Nicaragua 25 aircraft. Not a single plane was kept in Sweden. The only preserved Mustang on Sweden was bought back from Israel and is now displayed at Flygvapenmuseum (Sw AF/n 26020) (Taken from avrosy.nu/aircraft/yakt/114j26-1)

The plane you'll be flying is carrying the swedish serial number 26146, was know as "Red 16" and was assigned to F 21 at Luleå, the most northern Swedish Air Force.

There is another swedish P-51D for Flight Simulator 98, and actually Mikael Karlssonis has released the first two P-51B of Sweden for FS2004.

Warranty:
I love the warranty wrote by Andrew W. Hall:
"None. Zip. Nada. Use at your own risk. I don’t think
this will harm your computer in any way, but if it does, I
don’t even want to hear about it."

A last remark: Why don't become a repainter? There are a lot of planes with special markings. I'm tired of the usual F-16 low-vis scheme, or the usual 757 in Delta markings. Why don't a "Bat's outa Hell's" B-25 or a serie of Qantas 737s? The plane modelers like Andrew C Wai are very important, but they can't make all the painting schemes by himselfs. So why don't help him and his friends?

INSTALLATION:
Just unzip p51dah64.zip in your "Aircraft" folder of FS2002, FS2004 or FS9 (make sure "use folder names" is checked) and copy the gauges folder content in the correspondent one.
