FS2002 New Orleans Helicopter Scenery #6 by C.Young. Every installment is stand alone. This installment includes a representation of the town of Grand Isle, La., offshore rigs off Grand Isle, two "camps" with helipads north of Grand Isle, an oil rig fire, heliports for Leeville, La. and Lafayette, La. as well as the Chevron Dock in Venice, La.

Scenery

Grand Isle Louisiana is south of KMSY by about 30 minutes on the Gulf of Mexico, and west of Venice Louisiana. Fly due south and look for NDB 395. Grand Isle has been both a recreational location as well as a major hub for the oil industry.

There are a couple of oil platforms offshore due south of Grand Isle about 20 miles out.

Lift off from Grand Isle and fly to the farm just to the north and the fishing camp with helipad and runway north of the farm. There is also an oil rig fire inland north of Grand Isle and a make-shift air fielf built to support firefighting efforts.

WNW of Grand Isle is the PHI base in Leeville, La. similar to what it looked like in the mid 70's. It has an NDB on 391 Hz.

Further west is Lafayette La. Just off the property of Lafayette Regional is the fictional heliport of "HeliServices" win an NDB of 390 Hz.

When the last installment was released, I omitted the Chevron boat dock in Venice. It is south of venice with an NDB of 392 Hz.

Each scenery element takes several days to do. A whole series takes over 3 months. What keeps me working is hearing your comments. Feel free to email me at birddawg205@hotmail.com.
