v3 non-VFR scenery compatible release for FS2002

*******************CREDITS ***************

This is really important. Obviously I have used the ABACUS object software -thanks guys - and Airport v2.6 Release 246. Use this package its ace. No need for excludes or flattens in scenery.cfg. Without these two this would have been a non-starter.

THE USUAL DISCLAIMER

I am a terrible artist. I have stolen loads of other peoples textures, modified them, forgottenn whose they are , etc etc. Mainly cos I didn't think anything I did would be public. I am REALLY sorry if I have hacked you off. Let me know if it is a problem and maybe we can sort something out.

Big thanks is due to :

Thanks to Bagby Aerodrome.

ALL OF THE TEST TEAM : Craig Olley, Tom Smith, Gorden Luck, Joe Lavery, Keith Batchelor, Paul Gausden, Pamela Armstrong, Nick Cooper, Gerry Winskill, Tony Wray & Chris Booley. All comments are part of the testing. Especially nice ones !!! Also thanks to the UK VFR scenery team for the spur to get on with this.

***************** Other thoughts ****************************

I owe alot to the general flightsim community as a freeware hound. These little airfields are by way of payment. I have had huge enjoyment from all of the comments. I hope you have as much fun flying to them as I do. Some of them are just what I think might be there, some are a more acurate rendition.

Anybody wants the AIRPORT source files just send me an email. My api and fsc files are on SurClaro so you can all have a good laugh.

******************* How to use it *****************
REQUIREMENTS:

You will need to download Gerrish Grays Trees which can be obtained from Avsim/SurClaro Achives,

The UK mesh I use for FS2002 is :

UK 2002 MESH SCENERY Version 1.0 by: Pietro Mauri serious high quality craftsman !!
It is based on DTED Level 0, New Resampling and manual editing with MICRODEM, Compression and conversion to bgl with FS2000 SDK. The mesh cover entire United Kingdom and Ireland. My xxxx.bgl flattens work for this.

The scenery will work with "out of the box" FS2002 but you might get some strange effects ! Download the free mesh - its well worth it esp in Scotland.

THIS SCENERY IS NOT UK-VFR COMPATIBLE !!!!!!!

at least not by design. However it has been redesigned using GETMAPPING images to give the correct dimensions as far as I am able and to help give me some better colours. I suspect that in places it will be close but the elevations may be wrong. I am going to make a VFR compatible set when I get ~

a bigger hard disc
a faster machine
a bigger and better screen
new climbing boots
and a decent low wind kite !

and a small mortgage for the discs.

WHERE DO I PUT IT ?

in ...\scenery

unzipping the file will create the individual airfield directories for you inside this directory but I have a single ....\scenery\yorkshire directory with a \scenery and \texture directory. I manually put all my .bgl files in the scenery and all of the textures in the \texture.

Just do the usual add thing then and the scenery should appear. The scenery works well high up the list but its not critical by any means.

USING THE xxxx_AFD.bgl FILE

This is the file that populates the map, select a site and the flight planner with the airfield. Put this file in ...\SCENEDB\AFDFILES\SCENERY and restart FS2k2. It'll show up. My sites are called RXMA to RXMZ but for sites like Sherburn I have used the correct EGxx code. Where correct I have assigned the radio code to the tower - god knows why all Yorks ATC's are american !!!!

For all of you AFD experts, the files contain parking spots, hold shorts, and taxiways even at the smallest airports so using traffic tools you can have club flying. Works esp well with flying in the York area and lots of planes zipping between airports giving lots of sky traffic landings and takeoffs. It also means that at places such as sheffield things now taxi in the right place. Feel free to reverse engineer to your hearts content.

Also if you select GO TO AIRPORT- Search Add-on scenery option, my sites appear there as well with named startup places (like the club parking).

HELP ! MY TEXTURES DON'T WORK !

Check you have the structure of above correct then try the fix in the included file (its called PATCHA)
****************Future Plans*******************************

Almost certainly going to reconfig to VFR compatible but I also still have a lot of photography to do, and I really want to build Netherthorpe and have a bash at Breighton, if nobody else wants to do it. I also need to spend some time on my "Summer Isles" w.coast scotland project for float planes.

Only the BGL files are my property and I retain the right to insist that they are FREE DISTRIBUTION ONLY in non-commercial products.

Provided they are distributed in a free way you my bundle them up in anything you want.

I do not claim authorship of the textures. However, none of these are to be distributed without the true author's consent.

You may reverse engineer (e-mail me, get the airport source files, and save youself hassle) the bgl's provided you don't repackage tham and sell them.

If you have paid for this product then complain long and loud to the vendor. You paid for this quality ??
