FSX Marine 1 White House and Camp David

by Dan French

HISTORY:
The presidential helicopter Marine 1 has a long and storied history and is great to see
landing at the White House. This scenery/ AI package presents Marine 1 as an SH3-D Sea
King helicopter as it arrives/ departs the South Lawn. Scenery has been added to spruce
up the default White House model, including the South and North Lawn fountains. To make the
package more realistic a custom built Camp David with landing area, Aspen Lodge, Main Lodge,
and outbuildings is provided. Marine 1's schedule is as follows and every 6 hours:

Depart (GMT) Arrive (GMT) Notes
Andrews AFB 00:00 White House 00:19
White House 01:00 Camp David 01:35
Camp David 02:00 White House 02:35
White House 03:00 Andrews AFB 03:19 No changes made in any KADW AFCAD

Here's a "mission" for you: Take off from KADW Andrews AFB at about 12:55GMT in your favorite fighter
plane. Bank out over downtown DC, locating the White House. A little after 13:00 GMT you should see
Marine 1 (redlabel Sikorsky SH3-D Seaking) lift off from the South Lawn and head north. Fly air cover
all the way to Camp David. After Marine 1 is on the ground, switch to SLEW mode and have a look around.

REQUIREMENTS:

The SCENERY requires The following free downloadable libraries for some things to show up:

1. EZ Scenery libraries (David Grindele's all-inclusive available for free download
at SurClaro ez_1.zip)

2. Dan French Core LibrariesVol2_FSX or higher (At SurClaro or avsim.net
search for dlfcorelibraries2FSX.zip)

The AI TRAFFIC requires the following downloads:

FS2004 US Navy AI Sikorsky SH-3D Sea King helicopter by Rob
Nieuwenhoven, Chris Jones and Mal Lloyd: file "sh3blue.zip" at SurClaro
and avsim.net

INSTALLATION OF SCENERY:

all the files.

2. Place or copy the entire folder "Marine 1 White House and Camp David" into your FSX/Addon Scenery folder.

3. NOTE: Most of my sceneries have common textures. If you wish one file to be available
to all my sceneries rather than just the Marine 1 scenery, place the contents (all the files,
NOT the folder itself) of the AddOn Scenery/Marine 1 White House and Camp David/texture folder
into your main FSX/Textures folder and click "Yes to All" to overwrite any textures (no default
textures have been changed).Otherwise leave them where they are.

4. Turn on Flight Simulator FSX

5. At the main menu, click on and open the SETTINGS button.

6. Under "Other Settings" click on and open the "Scenery Library"

7. Click on "Add Area", then navigate to "Addon Scenery".
Double click to open, select the "Marine 1 White House and Camp David" folder you added above
and click the "OK" button.

8. At this point, the title of the folder should appear in the
"Area List" menu of Flight Simulator with a check mark in the
"Enabled" column.

9. Click the "OK" button and exit /close Flight Simulator.
The next time you fly, the scenery should be in place.

Installation of the White House fountains:

Copy the file "fx_Fountaindlf" and paste in the FSX/ Effects folder.

INSTALLATION OF AI:

1. Download and install FS2004 US Navy AI Sikorsky SH-3D Sea King helicopter by Rob
Nieuwenhoven, Chris Jones and Mal Lloyd: file "sh3blue.zip" at SurClaro
For FSX this goes in the Sim Objects/ Airplanes folder.

2. Install The Marine 1 textures for the helicopter found in the file "Marine 1 Helicopter"

a. Copy the "Texture.marine1" file into the Sea King aircraft folder you installed.

b. Open the aircraft.cfg file found in the Sea King aircraft folder you installed
and add the appropriate lines per the instructions on the notepad file "Add
this to the aircraft cfg file"

3. Copy/paste the file "Traffic_DLF_WhiteHouse_FSX.bgl" into the FSX/Scenery/World/Scenery folder
NOTE: This is a true FSX flight plan. If you are using FS9 flight plans without FSX
conversion (WOAI,MAIW, etc), use the "Traffic_DLF_WhiteHouse_FS9.bgl" file
