The biggest and best collection of Mirage aircraft for MS Flight Simulator.
Between 1965 and 1969, the Swiss Air Force acquired 18 reconnaissance Mirage
IIIRS aircraft. These were numbered R-2101 to 2118. The 16 remaining examples
continued to serve with the Ueberwachungsgeschwader (UeG) (surveillance wing).
By the end of 2003 they are scheduled for retirement.
The subject of this repaint, R-2103, is operated by Fliegerstaffel 10 (10
Squadron) from Dübendorf AB near Zürich. R-2103 was delivered in August 1968,
and went through the Improved Swiss Mirage Aircraft (IMSA) update program
during 1990. On December 5, 1997, R-2103 became the first Mirage IIIRS to
reach 3000 hours flying time, '1st Swiss AMIR 3000hrs'. 'AMIR' always means
Mirage IIIRS (AufklärerMIRage, Recce-Mirage in german) in Swiss Air Force use.
To commemerate this operational milestone, the port side (only) of the fin was
painted with a large 10 Squadron badge. This special paint scheme has been
retained throughout the remainder of the aircraft's carreer.
This aircraft wears the standard camouflage colors and pattern adopted by the
Swiss Air Force for this type. As is the current practice of the Swiss Air
Force, all national insignia and the unit badges have been oversprayed with
a light gray to tone them down.
This aircraft is for FS2002 only. It will not display correctly in FS2004
(no animation and no landing gear).
