Context (by Pascal Linder)
*****************************************************

This version is a brand new visual version based on an evolution of Marty Baclawsky and Tony Bolton Saab340 v2 work.
The flight model is already the same as the one Tony made. Nothing has been changed, it's a great flight model.

I especially wanted to thank those two guys for delivering the original AFX file in order to enable
people like me to optimize the initial plane and learn a lot from others work.

Thanks guys for beeing freeware.

I also wanted to thank the Freeware Flight Group for providing such files.

Despite several mails to both Marty and Tony, I didn't get an 'offcial' release authorisation,
but as the file was on a frewware site that diffuse AFX files, guess I had the opportunity to release it despite
their official authorisation.

As requested by both marty and Tony, the description file that follows is th one that was distributed with their original file.

This is Version 2 of our Saab340 aircraft designed for FS98.

The visual model has some minor changes and corrections from the original
release.

The flight model has been completely redesigned for fs98 using Ian Donohoe's
AD98 Deluxe with valuable input from a Saab340 pilot and reference to the
actual aircrafts operating manual. The major benefit of this redesign is
that the aircraft can now be flown using all the autopilot functions
available in FS98 without causing alarm to either passengers or crew. There
is little, if any, altitude loss when turning with altitude hold switched on
and the aircraft will hold the approach glideslope down to the decision height
without porpoising or playing 'hunt the localizer'. It can, of course, also
be flown manually.

Depending on the repaint you have downloaded it will either have an AIR file
for the 340A or the S340B. Visually the aircraft types are the same however
the 'B' has more powerful engines and better performance. The appropriate
pilots guide to flying the aircraft is included in the ZIP file, this is a
WordPad document that you should print out and refer to while flying the
aircraft.

Saab 340
---------
The 340 began life as the SF340, a joint venture between Saab-Scania
and Fairchild, in the early 1980's with the first production models
going into service in 1984. In November that year Saab took over full
responsibility for the aircraft following Fairchilds decision to move
out of aircraft production, the SF340 designation remained for a time
but was eventually changed to 340A. The 340B offers more powerful
engines to improve the 'hot and high' performance, an increase in
the maximum takeoff weight and improved range, it was delivered in
September 1989.
