The Blanik L13 is one of the most active training and club gliders at soaring sites worldwide. Approximately 2,650 of this Karel Diouhy design were produced by LET Corporation in the Czech Republic, until the L13 was replaced by the L23 Super Blanik in 1988. With a glide ratio of 28:1 and wings spanning 53.1 ft., performance is on a par with other meduium performance sailplanes of the pre-fiberglass era. The glider features all-metal flush-riveted construction, partially retractable main gear and Fowler flaps (the flaps do not function on the FS98 version). The glider is certified for limited aerobatics.

**INSTALLATION NOTES**

THIS AIRCRAFT IS ALREADY CONVERTED FOR FS98... YOU DO NOT NEED TO CONVERT IT! HOWEVER, YOU MUST HAVE THE FS98 CONVERTER INSTALLED TO USE ADD-ON AIRCRAFT.

1. Create a new Folder (subdirectory) titled L13 under you FS98\Aircraft folder. Place the L13.air and aircraft.cfg files in the new FS98\Aircraft\L13 folder.

2. Create 4 additional new folders titled Model, Panel, Sound and Texture within the FS989\Aircraft\L13 folder you just created.

3. Copy the L13.mdl and model.cfg files to the FS98\Aircraft\L13\Model folder.

4. Copy the panel.cfg file to the FS98\Aircraft\L13\Panel folder.

5. Copy the sound.cfg file to the FS98\Aircraft\L13\Sound folder.

6. Copy the nine texture files (L13.0af through L13.8af) to the FS98\Aircraft\L13\Texture folder.

***FLYING THE BLANIK***

Use the World\Go TO commands to make your altitude 10,000 ft. AGL above the field of you choice. Or, choose one of the Soaring flights from the main menu and select the L13 Blanik from the Select Aircraft menu after the flight has begun. Remember, this is a taildragger and must be flown all the way to the end of the rollout. Enjoy! Also, check out the Blanik L13 panel by Mark L. ***AKNOWLEDGEMENTS***

I recieved ongoing support, FSFS design tips, and Flight Dynamics Editor advice throughout this project from Rush Mueller, Compuserve FS Forum Staff, and other Forum members. Valuable suggestions and comments on FSFS sailplane design problems were offered by FS Forum member and sailplane designer Wolfram Beckert. Wolfgang Piper also contributed suggestions and a copy of an article on Fight Dynamics modeling by Lars Kornstaedt (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/L_kornstaedt). Also, many thanks to Robert McDonnell, Gary Gordon, and Ralph Biesemeyer who instructed me in this type at gliderports at Santa Ynez, CA., and Jean, NV.
