All,

Thanks for trying my first attempt at Airport scenery creation. I have not created a full airport with runways and taxiways, etc. I have just improved the default buildings. I have redone Terminal A, B, and C, The new tower, and included the old toothbrush tower, even though it is slated for destruction soon. The old tower is it's own bgl so it can be removed at will. In this version I have added Some of the northern buildings, and the deicing cover for winter, in a generic kind of way, and also a couple of the cargo terminals. Included is a coded afcad2 file for the gates. The gates are coded seperate from the terminals and are active at extra dense scenery settings or greater. I have also reduced the polygon count.

I started creating this for flight sim 2k2. With Newark Liberty Airport in the top rankings for total airport operations, (405,000 plus flights and over 29 million passengers) I was disappointed in the lack of detail, attention to shape etc. given to kewr. In 2004 cof the shape is a little better but the textures leave a lot to be desired... and no gates.... and.... well, I decided to keep on learning scenery. I have used Simflyer's excellent kewr scenery. I find it very detailed, and entertaining, and worth every penny. However the price is a very low fps without adding ai planes. Once I added the required Continental Hub flights and brought a few more realistic schedules from American, United and a few others, I could barely even run Flight sim. Since I live near the airport, pass it on the way to work, and get to see, and use it when I travel, I just had to get a little more detail than just default.

So here is the result. A little more detail, and I hope a friendly frame rate. I created the buildings in GMAX. It runs well on my system as it stands (details below). Things I see as weaknesses are my textures. I'm just not that artistic, nor imaginative and if you have the talent I would be glad of the help. Just let me know you are doing it and share the better results freely. I would appreciate constructive feedback on the scenery. Let me know what your results, and thoughts, about the scenery are.

Thanks to all who helped with the Beta testing and those that helped me in learning this crazy scenery stuff. It's addicting...=;-).
Thanks again for your interest in my KEWR scenery.

Installation:

Unzip the file to the Addon Scenery Directory or the directory you use for added scenery. It should create a kewr folder with the scenery and texture folders and files.

Take the AF2_KEWR.bgl file and put it in your ...Addon Scenery\scenery, or leave it in the kewr\scenery folder. This is the afcad2 file for the gates.

Add the scenery through the scenery library in FS2k4.

PLEASE MAKE SURE the exclude file (if it shows up in your scenery library as 'buildings exclude') has a higher number than your scenery folder.

Let me know if you have any questions.
