*************KAFW - Fort Worth Alliance Airport - V1*************
FOR FS2004
by Chris Donawho

IMPORTANT NOTE - This scenery has NOT been tested in FSX. I do
not use FSX and therefore cannot support it. It may work, but I make no
promises. Use at your own risk.

Fort Worth Alliance, touted as the first all-industrial airport, is
located in far northern Tarrant County. The airport is approximately
15 miles north of downtown Fort Worth and only a couple of miles
south of the famous Texas Motor Speedway.

Although this airport has no commercial airline service it does get
its fair share of heavy iron traffic. I would even guess that with FedEx's
Southwest Regional Air Hub, American Airlines' B777 Maintenance
Facility, and the occasional visit from the gigantic Antonov 124-100
Ruslan from Volga Dnepr, this airport might actually have more heavy
traffic turns each day than most of the larger US commercial airports.

Each year the GA ramp fills up with the latest and greatest bizjets; once
in April and once again in November, for the NASCAR races. In October,
the Alliance Air Show takes center stage. The main runway is shutdown
during the show. The parallel runway is used instead. This weekend
airshow event represents the bulk of usage for this smaller runway.

ABOUT THE SCENERY - First of all, this is only my second scenery so it
may not be up to your usual standards. Please bear with me while I continue to
learn the various tricks of the trade. I did my best to replicate the airport as it
stands today. Living a mile or so from the field, I wanted to spruce up
the typical boring default scenery. The scenery mainly consists of the usual
RWY12/EZ Object Libraries. I have included some just in case. There are also
a few custom objects that I put together for unique control tower at KAFW.
Please understand that the texturing on the tower is not so great as all I have at
my disposal is MSPaint and it is simply not a good enough program to texture with.

OBJECT LIBRARIES - While I have included them for this scenery, I strongly
suggest you download and install an updated library collection at
www.flightlevel390.org as this includes just about every object library out on the
net. It is a huge download, thus not available on AVSIM or Flightsim. It is well
worth the effort and should alleviate missing objects or textures almost entirely.
If everyone would do this, many of the sceneries you download would be less
than 1mb in size.

***INSTALL*** - I wanted to keep this simple and I have, but there is only one
extra step involving a texture created by Joe Degregorio/FL390.

1. Place the KAFW2008 folder into your FS9\ADDON
SCENERY folder.
2. Move or Copy (you may wish to make backups first, but it's not
necessary) the contents of HANGAR TEXTURE FL390 (2 files)
into your FS9\SCENERY\Namc\Texture folder.
Overwrite when prompted. These files will also change the
default Delta Air Lines hangar at KDFW to American Airlines,
as was the case years ago when Delta shutdown it's DFW Hub.
Otherwise, you will get a Delta Hangar at Alliance.
3. Activate the KAFW2008 like usual, restart, and fly.

***AI Traffic Users*** - The file AFX_KAFW2008.bgl should serve well as
your afcad file. I dont use afcad files, but I believe this file will work as it
has all the parking spot info. There is an AFCAD file for Alliance (KAFW) on
the net and if you have it, please delete it. It's really not very accurate anyway.
My file will park some aircraft on the new cargo ramp on the southwest
corner of the field, although in the real world, this facility is still vacant,
having been completed only months ago. Occasionally, some of the big
Antonovs that visit this airport may park on this ramp during extended stays
in an effort to stay out of the way of the normal operations. There is also one
giant spot in front of the FBO assigned to the Volga Dnepr, as this is where
this aircraft typically parks when it arrives to pick up helicopters from the Bell
facility. So find a big Antonov AI plane and put it to work.

***CREDITS*** - Many thanks to David "Opa" Marshall, Wil Morgan
(FRF-Frame Rate Friendly), and various forum members who have
helped me understand some of this scenery design stuff. Special
thanks to JoeDegregorio of FL390 (www.flightlevel390.org) for allowing
me to use his texture for the AA Hangar.
And also, thanks to Chuck Boulais and Opa for testing this scenery.
This scenery was created using, FSDSv3, AFX, Instant Scenery, and a
few other programs I still dont understand. Some objects may have come from
other sceneries installed on my PC. Thanks to all those who created these fine
objects.
