Guernsey Field is an airport located on Guernsey Island.It has a rather modern look to it but it will not look out of place for CFS WWII missions.The airport features a single runway equiped with a complete IFR/ILS system with landing lights for the runway and taxiway lights.The town of St. Peter Port (the capital of Guernsey) is located nearby with a downtown and business district.There is a village close by,a manufacturing district,and harbor facilities north of town on L'Ancresse Bay.
A few notes on building this scenery:I originally built a mission file but the aircraft start location was no where near a runway so I built this scenery so my planes had a runway to take off from lol! If you notice,I use polygons instead of the usual taxiways and roads in the Airport 2.60 program .That way the roads and taxiways stay visable from a long way off.I built over some of the stock roadway using polygons and had to add taxiway lights and stripping,one object at a time.
Included with this scenery is a single mission file,"Attack on Cherbourg". It is a WWII B-17 raid on Cherbourg.This mission has you escort the bombers to target,defend against Axis fighters and dodge heavy flak over Cherbourg.This mission will auto install to its correct location.
IFR/ILS/VOR/ADF frequencies: ILS-110.50 range 40 miles,VOR-112.50 range 120 miles,Ndb for the Outer Marker 595 range 40 miles,ADF frequency is 590 range 60 miles.
Note: the outer marker is only 3 miles from the runway due to the geography of the island so there is no middle marker,only the outer and inner markers.
Install: After downloading,run the exe file and the scenery will automatically go to the right location.The mission file will auto install into the Single Missions folder in the main CFS folder.Be sure after you run the exe file that you go to free flight,scenery library and use the path name "Guernsey Field" to activate the scenery.
I used Airport 2.60 and the CFS Scenery Editor to build this scenery. Thanks to scenery design greats like Rafael Garcia Sanchez,Martin Wright,Ralf-J Tribel and others I probably forgot to list.This scenery is released as freeware and is subject to any copyrights and/or restrictions set by the original designers.I declare my work as freeware and if your comp goes ka-boom,don't blame me!
