CrashFx Pro - crash effects and virtual damage wizard.
The fast and easy way to create realistic crash effects.

CrashFx Pro features:

1. Aircraft Size chooser.
2. Effect Density chooser.
3. Aircraft Breakage [visual_damage] enabler
4. Use with Flight Sim 2002 or Flight Sim 2004.
5. Comprehensive restoration functions.

Clicking "Start" begins the following sequence of actions.
1. Aircraft Size chooser
2. Effect Density chooser
3. Aircraft Breakage chooser

Clicking "Settings" lets you configure CrashFx Pro to use with Flight Sim 2002 or Flight Sim 2004.
CrashFx Pro saves backups of all [aircraft.cfg] files as well as the Flight Sim [fs9.cfg and fs2002.cfg] configuration files; to enable their restoration to the condition they were in before any changes were made by CrashFx Pro.

Aircraft Size:
The Small and Large Aircraft buttons modify the magnitude (physical size) of the crash effects so small aircraft (C-182) or large aircraft (B-747) can have more accurately modeled effects.
These settings affect the Height, Breadth, and Width (x,y,z) of the crash effect

Effect Density:
Both Flight Sim 2002 and Fs 2004 use a particle and emitter based effects system.
The system places emitter points in the Flight Sim world, which then emit particles.
These particles have the rules of physics applied to approximate a variety of real-world effects.
The Effect Density buttons allow you to select a higher or lower resolution.
This is for even greater control over the crash effects and to provide support for slower CPU's.
The average high density setting is 44 effects.
The average low density setting is 18 effects.
The effects include:
Blast Objects, Craters, Dirt / Dust, Fires, Concussion Flashes, Shockwaves, and Smoke.

Aircraft Breakage (visual_damage=1):
The ability to view aircraft damage was removed from Flight Sim 2002 and 2004.
FS2002/2004 use configuration files for keeping information about Aircraft Name, Manufacturer, Model, etc.
These “aircraft.cfg” files are text based configuration files, that allow for the normal viewing of aircraft damage when the line "visual damage=1" is inserted for each paint job.

Aircraft Breakage Operation:
If not already; the file is backed up to its own folder as “aircraft.bak
The program looks in the selected "aircraft.cfg" file for the line "visual damage=1".
If this line appears and is set to “=1” it means crash damage is enabled.
If this line does not appear the program adds it for each paint job in the "aircraft.cfg" file.

NOTES:
1. Aircraft models have varying amounts of crash information built in. Some aircraft will break into smaller pieces; some won’t. Most seem to produce the crash effects nicely.
2. When a plane crashes, "Contact points" built into the aircraft model help to determine the size, type, and duration of crash effects.
3. Areas of contact are different for each aircraft and may not be optimal for older aircraft converted from fs95/98.
4. The actual part of the aircraft impacting the ground is also a variable. Example: Shearing a wing off causes fuel to spill out making large fireballs.
5. Effects are directional so they may not be seen from some angles.
Example: Dirt clods and engine parts fly in the direction of impact, if you view the crash from the behind, the aircraft and fireballs may block your view of the dirt clods flying away.
