Caspian Sea Monster or Ekranoplan is a ground effect vehicle.
This is the FSX Caspian Sea Monster found in FSX Simobjects Boats folder and made flyable. This is a very basic AI model but it will give you a new FS experience!
It uses the default Boeing 747 VC and 2d panel.
This aircraft is great fun to fly -
Where to fly?
=================
Anywhere where you can start in water and with wide access to the sea. Alaska has many good places.
Suggested starting point Cape Pole, Alaska, Water. Head out to sea!!
A more authentic expereience would be the Caspian Sea in Russia - however no water ports were found in FSX.
Flying
=================
This aircraft will lift off at about 130kts and cruise at about 300kts 60ft above the water. The original craft may have had no flaps - so no need to use them.
Plenty of time needs to be given for turns and stops or you will crash. Plan for 5 to 10 minutes to stop. Slow down at least 20 miles from destination!
Caspian Sea Monster Information
=================
The Ekranoplan, nicknamed the Caspian Sea Monster, was a Russian Wing-In-Ground effect vehicle ( WIG) which flew for the first time in 1966. It utilises the 'Ground effect', an effect occurring when a wing travels close to the ground. It could lift 1,000 tonnes, was over 100 m long, weighed 540 tonnes fully loaded, and could travel over 400 km/h (250 mi/h), mere meters above the surface of the water.
