Background:
------------
Before Professor Hugo Junkers started constructing aeroplanes, he built heaters and iron-stoves. These experiences had great influence on his model w 33. The Junkers W 33 was built like a coal-shovel. It was solid, simple, slow, indestructable and to be used for any purpose. It could be repaired in every blacksmiths shop.

The w 33 was a direct successor of the F 13, worlds first all metal airliner. They shared several main sections such as wings and undercarriage. They serviced between the arctic Sibiria, the Highlands of China and the tropic djungle at the Amazonas. Therefore they were equipped with wheels, ski-skids and floats. It was a W 33, that conquered the first east to west Atlantic-crossing. The version with radial-engine was called W 34.

Due to the wide spread duties and the rapid technological progress in those days, hardly any of the approximately 200 pieces looked or were equipped the same. There were different undercarriages, rudders, windscreens, windows and doors, handles, and a lot more. Dependent on the customers wishes the instrument-panels were fitted, there were closesd canopies, gunners and bombardiers compartments and different exhaust pipes that obviously had their ancestors in the stoves-business ...

It was the sum of its magnificent characteristics that made it the essential mainstay in early aircargo-transportation.
