FS2002 Additional Small Terrains and Sceneries Around Dijon, Burgundy, France

These .bgl files for use with FS2002 will add some more details in the area of Dijon, Burgundy, France and useful for GA flights. Two additonal small terrains are to be found, Pouilly-Maconges (LFXI), West of Dijon and Nuits-St Georges-La Berchère (LFHU), South of that city which due to their rough surface or exiguity will be suited to soft-field or short-field pproach and landing training. Some additional scenery is available too to Darois (LFGI), home to the 'Aéro-Club de la Côte d'Or' and Tilchâtel (LFET), a smaller flying-club North of Dijon. The Nuits-St Georges antenna further, accurate ATC frequencies for LFXI and LFHU, or lake Kir, such sceneries will allow to improve the realism of any flight around Dijon. You will note that we did not figure taxiways in Darois as we estimate that the scenery aldready animate there. A treat consists, for Darois, to alternate files representing, for the summer period, a sailplane in the area where that activity occurs

Instructions of Use

To have those additional details and sceneries appear in FS2002, you have just to use the Scenery Library panel in FS. That assumes that you master how to access the directory on your operating system where your version of FS2002 is located. That access depends upon what OS is running on your computer. The typical location of FS2002 in a Windows XP-powered system is like main hard drive/Program Files/Microsoft Games/FS2002. CAUTION! Any access there, or the way to get there may encounter some files and directories which are of importance to the functionment of your computer or your FS2002. Take care not to move or change, or delete any!

Once into the FS2002 directory, just put the 'darois' directory included in our archive into the 'ADDON SCENERY' directory of FS2002. Thence fire FS2002 on and go to the Environment menu, Scenery Library panel. Click Add an Area. That brings you into the main FS2002 directory. Click-open the 'ADDON SCENERY' directory. Spot the 'darois' directory you just added and click-open and no any move beyond, as the name 'darois' appears to the bottom like the title of the scenery area . Now click OK, which brings you back to the Scenery Library panel. Leave by clicking OK, which brings FS to reset the sceneries repertory and such, to take the new files in account. You're done! Note that due to some instability in Airport For Windows, the scenery maker we used to build these sceneries, it might that such a reset of the Scenery Library should modify the autogen density. To be back with the usual display, you will have then to close FS and fire it again

Some More! Both Maconges and Nuits Saint-Georges come with their set of ATC. As those terrains do not exist by default in FS2002, we have been obliged to create their data (also with the terrains present in the FS2002 'Go To...' and 'Map View' menus) with a useful freeware called AFCAD. Also, that means that to have our data work, you will have to use the enclosed 'eurswafd.bgl' file. CAUTION! THAT USE BRINGS TO MANIPULATE SOME SENSITIVE FILES in FS2002, ANY WRONG HANDLING MAY CAUSE TROUBLES WITH YOUR FS2002! To use the 'eurswafd.bgl', first read again the warning which come by the beginning of our Instructions of Use above, first read again the warning which come by the beginning of our Instructions of Use above as about how to reach the FS2002 folder on your hard drive. Once the FS2002 folder found, open the 'SCENEDB' folder, then the 'AFDILES' and 'SCENERY' ones, that latter containing among others the data pertaining to the FS2002 terrains. Spot the original 'eurswafd.bgl' AND rename it something like 'eurswafd.bgl ORIGINAL' That will prevent FS2002 to use it and allows to your original configuration. Now move our 'eurswafd.bgl' into, which is enough to have the correct data for our terrains around Dijon work! IMPORTANT NOTE! Some of our other add-ons, or other add-ons by other authors, ALSO MAY MAKE USE of such a swap technique in the AFDFILES/SCENERY folder. Just take that in account when using our own file, like should another 'eurswafd.bgl' file be used, you would have to rename it also and use only our!

As far as the sailplane area alternate file for Darois, is concerned, just get into the 'darois' directory inside 'ADDON SCENERY,' whether FS2002 is running or not, and open the 'scenery' directory. Check three files 'darois.bgl', 'darois.bgl SAIL02' and 'darois.bgl SAIL20.' 'darois.bgl' is the file representing Darois without the sailplane activity as 'darois.bgl SAIL02' and 'darois.bgl SAIL20' does with. When summer comes and the sailplane activity, the latter occurs on the grass side of the main runway. Depending on the wind and the runway in use, you will use the 'darois.bgl SAIL02' for 02 like the active and 'darois.bgl SAIL20' for runway 20. In any case here is the process (TAKE CARE not to somehow delete the 'darois.bgl' file!). Just rename the 'darois.bgl' file, adding something like 'darois.bgl USUAL,' and renaming 'darois.bgl SAIL02' or 'darois.bgl SAIL20' into 'darois.bgl.' Get into the FS Scenery Library panel (eventually after firing FS2002) and without any move or change, click OK. The new scenery is taken into account. Act conversely when you want to be back to the most usual activity in LFGI! (same remarks than above about the autogen densite -procedure not needed should you have processed the sail file with FS2002 not running)

As far, at last, as the tentative Lake Kir is concerned, you may, or not, find that its shores do not merge enough into the existing landscape. Depending of your choice, just validate the scenery or just invalidate it. In the second case, just rename both 'lackir.bgl' and 'lack_EX1.bgl' files, in the 'darois' directory, with some extension like 'lack_EX1.bgl TEN' and 'lack_EX1.bgl TEN' at the effect FS2002 does not use those files

You will note, generally, that terrains' windsails do not take in account any wind change except when restarting FS. At that effect, should you want the windsails to really indicate the current wind, you will have, once the change in wind made, to save your flight and restart FS!
