C-130 Textures of the 191st Airlift Group, MIANG

DESCRIPTION:

This package contains textures for Alpha Simulation’s excellent C-130 package. The textures represent the 191st Airlift Squadron of the 127th Wing, Michigan Air National Guard. The 191st flies C-130’s from Selfridge Air National Guard Base (KMTC). The textures are repaints of Alpha Sim’s original work.

INSTALLATION:

1. Place the texture.MIANG folder in your C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\aircraft\ALPHA C-130 Hercules folder
2. Place the following in the aircraft.cfg file (replacing XX with the next number):

[fltsim.XX]
title=ALPHA C-130E MIANG
sim=C-130Hercules
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=MIANG
atc_id=37895
atc_airline=AIR FORCE
atc_flight_number=191
ui_manufacturer=ALPHA
ui_type=C-130 Hercules
ui_variation=191 Airlift Squadron, MIANG, Selfridge ANGB Michigan
description=© ALPHA Simulations 2003\n\nLockheed C-130 Hercules\n\nThe prototype C-130 first flew in 1954 and the type is still in production nearly 50 years later. The basic design was quite radical for the time but has proven to be a sound platform for numerous conversions such as tanker, rescue, gunship, recon and others. The Herc is a sturdy and reliable workhorse for both military and civilian operators in over 60 countries and continues to be upgraded and improved into the 21st century.

EXTRAS:

The model that I have from Alpha Sim (I bought it the day it came out I think) did not have any VC lighting (Phil reports to me that this has subsequently been solved). If you have the same problem or would like some different/better VC lighting, use the following in the [LIGHTS] section of your aircraft cfg file (NOTE: I do not know if these fx files are standard in FS, they may have been included inother packages. If you do not get the results that you want, replace the fx’s with what you find in your FS2002/effects folder):

light.3=4, 34.00, 0.00, 2.00, fx_vcfloodltm //Panel
light.4=4, 33.00, 0.00, 2.00, fx_vclighth //Pilots
light.5=4, 30.00, 2.00, 0.00, fx_vclighth //Navigator station

I was not satisfied with the gauge layout in the VC, so I also made some changes there as well. I replaced all of the gauges with default gauges and now get pretty good performance. The following mod requires the Concorde gauges (free, and found at the usual Flight Sim sites on the Web). This goes in the panel.cfg. Make a backup of your original first!!! Then simply replace the virtual cockpit section with the following:

//--------------------------------------------------------
[Vcockpit01]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=256,256
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$vpanel

gauge00=bear.gear, 227,144,26
gauge01=concorde!Attitude-indicator, 113,29,64,67
gauge02=concorde!Horizontal-situation-indicator, 112,97,64,67
gauge03=concorde!Radio-Altimeter, 67,90,44,48
gauge04=737-400!Airspeed, 68,36,44,52
gauge05=737-400!Altimeter, 178,38,44,48
gauge06=737-400!Vertical Speed, 178,90,44,48
gauge07=737-400!Flaps, 34,38,28,30
gauge08=concorde!ADF, 23,70,41,39
gauge09=concorde!VOR, 23,112,41,39
gauge10=WISKEY_COMPASS, 2,39,28,30
