McDonnell Douglas MD80 Austrian Airlines
README

OVERVIEW

The MD-80 v2.2026721 brings a not only a new FS2002 compatible aircraft, but additional repaints done by a professional painter. You will find that we've completely redone most of the model, making it nearly 100% Gmax material. It features the latest reflection including dynamic shine, lighting, and animation technology including accurate flaps, landing gears, thrust reversers, and dynamic wing views. This is only the first in a line of MD aircraft. Next will likely be the MD83 or 87. The FDE is the superb MD80 FDE by Sam Chin with modifications by Mike Baumann, and the model is by Jonathan Stewart and Erick Cantu. This aircraft is truly a multi-group effort, one of many to come.

We hope to soon include a highly realistic MD-80 panel with this aircraft. For now, we recommend using Paul Golding's wonderful MD-80 panel for FS2000. While it is only for FS2000, there are patches available to make the panel compatible in FS2002, however, with the loss of some features.

(If anyone is willing to step forward and program an accurate MD80 panel, please contact either Erick Cantu or Jonathan Stewart)

INSTALLATION

In order to properly install our aircraft, please follow the following steps closely.

Step #1

Extract this zip file to your main FS2002 folder. The files will automatically be put in their respective areas.

Step #2

The landing lights on this aircraft fold in and out of the wing when turned on or off. To realistically simulate this effect, we had to link the landing lights to the tail hook animation. In order to use the landing lights, you must first setup a key that is used to activate the tail hook animation, as it is not set by default.

Go to the Options-> Controls-> Assignments menu
-At the bottom of the "General aircraft commands", you will find the "tail hook" command.

Step #3
(!!!Only Required for Third Party Panels!!!)

To view wings from the cockpit without needing to switch to Active Camera, please follow these steps.

This will allow you to view the wings from 3 passenger perspectives without affecting the set viewpoint in the aircraft config file or ever leaving the cockpit.

Please make a backup of your panel.cfg file before continuing.

1)-in your panel config, remove the LEFT REAR, RIGHT REAR, and REAR bitmaps. remove the FIXED WINDOWS lines and the FIXED WINDOW information lower down in the panel config.

2)-place the following information in your panel config file, highlight (copy paste) and overwrite;

Fixed Window30=Forward Right
Fixed Window31=Right
Fixed Window35=Left
Fixed Window36=Forward Left

[VIEWS]
VIEW_FORWARD_WINDOWS=MAIN_PANEL,IFR_MAIN_PANEL,COLLECTIVE_PANEL,RADIO_STACK_PANEL,THROTTLE_PANEL,OVERHEAD_PANEL
VIEW_FORWARD_ZOOM=1.0
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.0, 0.0, 0.0
VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_WINDOWS=30
VIEW_FORWARD_RIGHT_DIR=6.0, 0.0, 45
VIEW_RIGHT_WINDOWS=31
VIEW_RIGHT_DIR=5.0, 0.0, 90
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_WINDOWS=32
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_ZOOM=0.8
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_EYE=0.7, -0.2, -17.50
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_DIR=-1.0, 0.0, 110.0
VIEW_REAR_RIGHT_DIR=3.0, 0.0, 135
VIEW_REAR_WINDOWS=33
VIEW_REAR_ZOOM=0.8
VIEW_REAR_EYE=0.0, -0.75, -25.55
VIEW_REAR_DIR=-0.8, 0.0, 270.0
VIEW_REAR_LEFT_WINDOWS=34
VIEW_REAR_LEFT_ZOOM=0.8

VIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=-1.0, 0.0, 250.0
VIEW_LEFT_WINDOWS=35
VIEW_LEFT_DIR=5.0, 0.0, 270
VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_WINDOWS=36
VIEW_FORWARD_LEFT_DIR=6.0, 0.0, 315

This will give you the normal cockpit views when looking forward, right front, right, left, and left front. But when using the HAT switch on your controller or using the #1, #2 or #3 keys on the number keypad, you will have a passenger’s perspective looking out across the wings on either side.

#1 key looks left rear, forward of the wing
#2 key looks right rear, forward of the wing
#3 key looks left, behind the wing

#5 still looks down (or up) and cannot be used for wing views in case some of you may be considering changing it. It is mapped and coded differently and cannot be used.
