CFS Scenery Add-On "West Malling"
for Combat Flight Simulator 1

Although still under construction during the Battle of Britain, West Malling was host to 141 squadron and their Defiants who were famously shot down en masse on the 19th July an episode known as the "Slaughter of the Innocents." West Malling was extensively bombed by the Luftwaffe even though it wasn't finished so consequently was only used by Lysanders flying reconnaissance missions for the later part of 1940.

It was used extensively for fighter bomber sweeps over France for the rest of the war and afterwards became a major night fighter base until it was closed in 1962. It was used for a few years by gliders and then closed for good after residents opposed its expansion. Today a large part of the site is a golf course while the rest is mostly housing or light industry.

In the sixties, The Beatles filmed the video-clip of "I am a Walrus" song on this former RAF Airbase.

This scenery places the additional runway07, buildings, fields, trees, ground vehicles and more to the default CFS scenery of West Malling.

On this scenery, I show some old static trucks (API macros) created by me, a few months ago, the Bedford OL, Chevrolet C60, Bren Carrier and the Austin K2 ambulance. Also, I have made a replica of the old Control Tower, based on the texture of Kevin M. Saggers: Macro of RAF wartime Watch Office for FS2002.

Whatever you do, have fun with this. This kind of scenery would not be possible with the utilities-tools and support of Pascal Meziat, Tom Hiscox, Brian McWilliams, Trevor de Stigter, Rafael Garcia Sanchez, Martin "Wizard" Wright, Mike Rennie, Kevin M. Saggers, Ralf Triebel and Manfred Moldenhauer. Thank you very much!

Installation:

Go to the CFS main scenery folder and make a folder named Westmalling.

Unzip the files directly to a Westmalling folder, all subfolders will be created automatically!

After unzipping the structure of that folders has to look exactly like this:

CFS ----
scenery
----- Westmalling
-------- scenery
-------- texture

Go to CFS and start in freeflight. Add the scenery to the scenery-library
(World / Scenery Library) - Add Scenery.

The BGL path to enter is exactly:

=:\=\scenery\Westmalling\SCENERY\*.BGL

You may copy and paste the line above!

Name the scenery "Westmalling" and don't forget to _activate_ it by checking the box!

You can access the initial points by clicking GOTO Airport, the airfield is added to the CFS airfields list.

Do not drop the ground vehicles texture files to your main CFS texture folder, otherwise they will eventually overwrite some of your other CFS textures!

The scenery was designed with Pascal Meziat, Tom Hiscox and Brian McWilliams utility program Airport 2.6; Martin Wright's MkAFD and Scasm 2.88 by Manfred Moldenhauer.

Thanks to Mike Rennie, Rafael García Sanchez, Jorn Kudla, Robert Waszkiewicz, Martin Wright, Kevin M. Saggers, Dan Geis, and Ralf Triebel, creators of the main api macros and textures used on his scenery. (and me, of course, as creator of some macros buildings using Ralf Triebel's textures).

Some api macros as made by me, using Easy Object Designer (EOD), Version 2.0.47 (© Matthias Brückner) for ground vehicles.

Thanks to the Webmaster of www.o5m6.de: Engines of the Red Army, by the permission for use his drawings on the development of my old trucks API macros.

I don't include static planes, due to problems with the number of 3D objects in the surroundings of other heavy sceneries as Biggin Hill and Kenley (© 2000, Mike Rennie).

Thanks too to the Microsoft Corporation for developing the CFS.
