The Trident was a single seat supersonic fighter developed in France during the fifties by the S.N.C.A.S.O. (Société Nationale de Constructions Aéronautiques du Sud-Ouest). Powered by a mix of jet engines (on wingtips) and rockets (at the rear of the fuselage), able to speeds upto 2200 km/h for the last versions (Trident III), the Trident was at this time a competitor to the early Mirage.

Unfortunately for the Trident, the bid for the French Air Force at the end of the fifties had been won by the Mirage ... And the story stopped there ...

This model has full moving parts and a custom 2D panel (an original bitmap by me).

It is proposed in 7 versions : 5 real (both different prototypes, one of them carrying a test missile, with or without bare metal reflexive textures), and two fictional (operational fighters during the sixties, with weapons = what would have happened if the Trident had been the winner against the Mirage ...).

IMPORTANT :

- You can fire or stop the flame of the rocket by using the key usually attributed to the landing lights (usually "CTRL + L"), or by using the switch in front of the yellow arrow in the 2D panel.

- The Trident was quite tricky to taxi on the ground because of a high center of gravity and a narrow landing gear ... So taxi this airplane very slowly and with caution !

INSTALLATION:

(If you had installed a previous version of my Trident, please remove it before installing this one).


Just unzip the file "SNCASO_Trident3", your will obtain 4 folders :

One folder named "gauges" : just copy and paste all its content in the main "gauges" folder of your FS. This folder is either "Microsoft Flight Simulator X / Gauges" (for FSX) or "Flight Simulator 9 / Gauges" for FS2004. Normally, you should already have some of these gauges. So, if asked to overwrite, please answer "no".

One folder named "Trident" : just copy this folder as it is, with all its content (model.clean, model.missi, etc., panel, sound, texture.clean, texture.missi, etc. etc.), in the "aircraft" directory of your FS2004 (= "Flight Simulator 9 / aircraft") or in the "airplanes" directory of your FSX (= "Microsoft Flight Simulator X / SimObjects / airplanes").

One folder named "effects" : just copy and paste all its content in the main "effects" folder of your FS2004 ("Flight Simulator 9 / effects") or FSX ("Microsoft Flight Simulator X / effects". If asked to overwrite for one of the files, answer "No".

One folder named "docs" is here only for your information and tribute to the Past and the heroes. Keep it where you want !

Launch FS2004 or FSX. In the aircraft list, look for the manufacturer "SNCASO", select the "Trident" and choose one of the seven versions (clean prototype with nose pitot tube, prototype without pitot and equipped with a missile, reflexive textures in 3 different configurations, or one fictional scheme as an operational fighter).

That's all !

IMPORTANT NOTICES :

All the moving parts (gears, flaps, spoilers, canopy ...) work with the usual keys.


You can fire or stop the flame of the rocket by using the key attributed to the landing lights (usually "CTRL + L"), or by using the switch in front of the yellow arrow in the 2D panel.

If you use reflexive textures, do no forget to check that you have activated the "reflects" box in the menu "parameters / display / aircraft" !!!

If the color of the aircraft is not stable under daylight, just unselect the option "shadows of the aircraft" (the 2dn line), in the menu Options / Parameters / Display or Graphics / Aircraft.

In french : si un effet de scintillement ou de clignotement se produit sur la couleur de l'avion (possible avec certaines cartes graphiques), désélectionnez tout simplement l'option "ombres portées de l'appareil" dans le menu "Options / Paramètres / Affichage / Appareil" et tout rentrera dans l'ordre.
