Thank you for downloading Tamworth Airport scenery.

This version is designed for use with or without SATPAC elevation mesh scenery and works best with the land class scenery. Land Class scenery changes the MSFS default scenery to show the landscape as it really is. Read all about Land Class scenery at our site.

ABOUT THIS SCENERY.
*******************

All runways, taxiways and navaid objects in the scenery are MSFS default. All other objects are placed as in real life based on photos taken on a trip to Tamworth in Sept 2002. Because of frame rate considerations not every building or smaller hanger is included.

A NOTE ABOUT FRAME RATES.
************************
The frame rates you can expect to achieve using this scenery, or any other for that matter, will depend on many variables.
Your display settings, type of aircraft your are using and the number of AI aircraft that may be parked at the terminal all play a part in reducing frame rates. The average user should obtain 10 to 15 fpm around the terminal area.

"LITE" VERSION
**************
If you are having frame rate problems use the "tamlite" BGL. Find it in the "lite.zip" within the tam2002.zip. It is a "no frills" version with many objects removed. Just swap it with the Tamworth BGL in the Tamworth scenery folder. Make sure you save the Tamworth BGL. Don't have both BGLs in the scenery folder at the one time.

ABOUT TAMWORTH AIRPORT.
**********************

Tamworth one of the largest regional cities in New South Wales. The airport is located only 9.4 kms from Tamworyth City center. It is a major centre of commerce, industry, transport, education and health services and provides excellent support for the industries based at the airport. Tamworth has a population of 36,000.

Tamworth City Airport has a combination of facilities, advantages and infrastructure quite unlike any other airport in Australia and with few equals anywhere in the world.
It is on Latitude 31 04’07" South and Longitude 150 50’44" East and is located at an altitude of 1,334 feet. The airport is in flat open country, with no hills closer than 11 kms.

The airport’s main runway is laid out on a bearing of 120/300 degrees and is 2,200 metres [7,218 feet] in length 45 metres wide with a runway strip width of 150 metres. The runway has been recently resealed and grooved.

The main runway is equipped with full lighting services to International standards and those are supported by standby power facilities. This runway is also equipped with T-VASIS [Visual Approach Slope Indicator System] equipment.

An Instrument Landing System is installed on the main runway and is capable of taking aircraft up to B737 however, Tamworth City Council will consider concessions for larger aircraft and approvals have been granted from time to time.

There are two grassed cross strips, [18/36] of 1,021 metres [3,350 feet] in length and the other [06/24] is 841 metres [2,759 feet] long.
A new all-weather sealed parallel runway has been built 1,100 metres to the south-west of the main strip. This strip is 1,100 metres long and 18 metres wide. It is designed for an aircraft with a maximum all-up weight of 5,700 kgs.

Avgas grade 100/130 and aviation turbine kerosene [JETA-1] is available at the Airport through both Shell and Air BP outlets.

Several major operators on the airport conduct sophisticated top quality maintenance facilities including aircraft engineering, avionics, engine overhauls [both piston and turbine], painting and component maintenance.

Tamworth Airport also plays host to The RAAF Traaining Academy.

Museum-style building, constructed to display East West's first aeroplane ... a fully restored Avro Anson (VH-ASM). View through glass panels. Our model is the only Avro Anson on the web and is not the colour we would have liked.

The Fokker Friendship parked near the Eastern Airlines main hangars is representative of an Fokker that was used by Australian Air Adventure Tours run by Bill Peach.

INSTALLATION.
*************

Unzip the tam2002.zip file to a temporary folder making sure you select "use folder names". Transfer the resulting "Tamworth" folder to where you normally install your FS2002 scenery.

Now start FS2002 and open the scenery library. Click on "add area" and browse to the Tamworth folder.

Single click on the folder it should light up automatically, you wont have to type in any entries in FS2002.

Click OK. Close the scenery library dialog box by clicking on the "tick" or OK.

Tamworth is a default MSFS2002 airport so you can search for it in the normal way. Tamworth will however now show in the "search addon scenery" in the "go to airport" menu. Here you have several locations to start your flight.

You will need APT (Airport 2.10 +) ASD, VOD, NOVA and NOVA GOLD TEXTURES, in your FS2002 main TEXTURE folder, for this scenery to show correctly. See more about these textures and where to get them at SFSC web site here.

ABOUT THE AI AIRCRAFT:
**********************
Microsoft as placed three general aviation aircraft at Tamworth.
They are parked incorrectly if one wishes to have the general maintenance hangars in the correct location. Because of this, when these aircraft move from their parking area, they will emerge from within the hangars in this scenery. If you are flying in and out of Tamworth and parking at the main terminal, you may never see this. If you wish, you may use the AFCAD file YSTW1. Find it outside the Tamworth folder when you unzip. This will relocate the parking of these three GA aircraft and avoid this problem.
AFCAD by Lee Swordy will be required to do this. You can download this program (AFCAD) from most major Flight sim sites.
