Franklin 6A4-150-B3 is rated 150hp but emergency rating is 165hp at 2800rpm for Go Around even with a fixed pitch screw. The emergency rating of 165hp is NOT available for Take Off with fixed pitch prop. With the standard Sensenich 76JA-53 fixed pitch prop as modelled by these flight dyanmics static case and ISA the engine will deliver about 2300 RPM and 150hp as in real life.
Franklin engines were easily damaged by running at low rpm and liked to be cruised at high rpm. Use of less than 2500 rpm for cruising shortens B3 series engine life. Consequently maximising endurance has a considerable cost penalty. To maximise range cruise 5000 feet or above at full throttle provided RPM do not exceed 2800 and profile drag does not exceed 126 MIAS (Vno).
