SimLog was put together in a couple of days. So it may have some glitches. But the price is right. If you find any bugs please let me know and I will attempt fix them ASAP. The main program is separate from the data files so to ease the upgrade/fix path.

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION NOTES:

Because SimLog is a database program it needs a unique identifier for each record. That could be plane type, registration number, etc. At first I used plane type but discovered nothing worked if a user had 2 planes of the same type. So this reworked version uses registration numbers as the unigue identifier.

WHAT THIS MEANS TO YOU ......

If you are flying FS default aircraft or downloaded aircraft and find yourself with more than 1 plane with the same registration number, and can't repaint the airplane, YOU WILL HAVE TO CREATE A FAKE NUMBER for SimLog. The easiest way is to add an a, b, c, etc to the end of the number when entering the NEW PLANE and CALL SIGN/REGISTRY.

WHAT YOU NEED TO RUN SIMLOG ....

You will need Microsoft Access 97 or 2000 to run this program. The runtime IS NOT INCLUDED HERE as it takes about 14 meg of space.

Because the main program usesLINKED DAT FILES, everything MUST BE EXTRACTED into a directory/folder EXACTLY AS SHOWN BELOW:

C:/FLIGHTSIM/LOGBOOK

If you want to add a shortcut to your desktop, follow these steps:

1. Using WinZip or some other utility, extract the files SIMLOG.MDB and SIMDATA1.MDB into the directory C:/FLIGHTSIM/LOGBOOK

2. Right Click on your desktop and select NEW/SHORTCUT

3. Navigate your way down to C:/FLIGHTSIM/LOGBOOK (if SimLog does not show up, make sure your "Files of Tye" dialog box is set to "ALL"

4. Select SimLog.mdb and follow the rest of the instructions.

TO ADD THE SIMLOG DESKTOP ICON ..

1. Right Click on the newly created SimLog shortcut and select PROPERTIES.
2. Click on Change Icon
3. Click BROWSE
4. Navigate to C:/FLIGHTSIM/LOGBOOK
5. Click on SIMLOG.ICO (Note: if SIMLOG.ICO does not show up automatically set the "FILES OF TYPE box to "ALL FILES")
6. Click OK all the way back out to your desktop.
==========================================================

If your system registry is working, double clicking the SimLog shortcut will automatically start you Access 97/2000 program and load up SimLog.
