FSX Saunders Roe SR-45 "Princess"

The SR-45 first flew in 1952. It was one of the largest flying boats ever built and was supposed to usher in a new era of turbo prop powered flying boats. it was over shadowed by the up coming land based jets such as the 707 and DC-8 which could make it across the Atlantic and would be much faster. Sauders Roe built three of the SR-45's; only one was finished and successfully test flown. It was an awesome sight in the air not only because of it's size but also from the sound of the ten Proteus turbines geared to ten props both singles and contra rotating doubles
This is a native FSX Acceleration project. It has the usual animations plus retracting wing tip floats which are actuated with the spoiler key. It has reverse thrust actuated with the F2 key. It is advisable to use reverse thrust upon landing as this ship has a lot of momentum and will coast forever. It has a specular shine and the .dds textures are presented in two liveries; the factory default paint and the proposed BOAC livery. I included the sound file from V.Zhyhulskiy's TU-114 which seems appropriate for this beast. The VC is based on a photo and has animated flight controls and working flight instruments. There is no 2D panel. I was not about to model all the engine instrumentation for 10 engines ganged into the 4 allowed by the simulator so the flight engineers panel is just a picture. A custom XML gauge (Thanks to Warwick Carter) actuates the turbine exhaust on and off at about 80% throttle. This varies depending on your joy stick.
Almost all of the reference material for this project was obtained from the April 2009 issue of "Aeroplane" monthly magazine database section.

INSTALLATION: Unzip SR45.zip into a temporary folder. Copy the folder Saunders Roe SR-45 into the Airplanes folder of FSX. Copy the Lockheed_Vega.cab and the folder my_gauges from the gauges folder into the Gauges folder of FSX. Copy both "as is", don't open them. Be sure the .cab files from the DC-3 and Dehaviland Beaver have been copied from their respective panel files into the Gauges folder of FSX.
