----------------Introduction to the SKYCAR M400----------------------

Welcome to my sim version (fiction) off the M400

This version off the M400 is for FS2002 Pro only.

First some notes on the key's
F5 = VTOL off F8 = VTOL on F6 (-) f7 (+)
/ I used this key for opening and closing the cockpit.
(normal the spoiler)

In real, the M400 is a flight by wire plane... So use the
speedhold, autopilot ect for a controled flight.
However you can fly the M400 manual.

the min. speed in this sim is 22 - 24 KTS for hovering. above
the ground.

In the virtual cockpit mode, use - key to set to 0.50 The cockpit
is 360 deg. So you can look in any direction you want.
so use - or + to zoom in or out. Use your seat for looking over
the panel.

There are three extra displays (windows) you can use in the 2D and
3D panel..

shift 2 = GPS view window
shift 3 = Autopilot window and radio
shift 4 = Radio Stack

Also there are MAP view ATC window and Kneebaord (this window)

In both cockpit mode the 2D and virtual window you can raise or lower your seat by using : shift enter or shift Backspace

To turn the engines on you can use the switch auto start or ctrl+e
it is also very usefull to assign a button of your control to engine shutdown.

Nose trim and rudder control (in the sim used for sharp horizontal turns) are very important in this sim.

When flying manual. Use your ruddercontrols if you have one, for making sharp turns, with wing lever on you can make sharp horizontal turns.

This sim is very stable so flying up side down is possible ENJOY

With VTOLfull (F8) on and full trottle the m400 will rise fast.

You can fly the m400 as a normal plane and land as a normal plane
on the ground however apply the parkingbrakes. see Taxing

Switch off the engines for complete stop. Do not forget to switch off the main and avonics switch put of all the lights... if you do not do this your accu will drain.

The virtual cockpit layout is a little different than the 2d panel.
I had my reasons for that.

So lets try to move the car..

-----------------------Taxing on the ground-------------------------------------
First switch engines on NO TROTTLE
Aply parkingbrakes
Set full VTOL (F8)
You see the car moving a little bit 0.2 kts this is normal for this sim.
Now release the parking brakes. Still no trottle is set.. (trottle idle)
now you see that the skycar is moving at a speed of 10 - 11 KTS
use your rudder and left and right brakes for making good turns
you have to practice a little bit with the brakes... but it is not difficult.
It is usefull to assign two buttons for left and right brake.

------------------------ Driving the Skycar --------------------------------------
This car is for flying ofcourse but it is a Skycar (CAR) so you can
use this car also to drive into town.

How do we do that? No Trottle !!!!!

Switch engines on
Parking brakes on
AP on Wing lever on
Vtol 20 %
release parking brakes

You are now driving with 20 to 21 Kts.

you know now how to taxi... and drive so lets Hover a little bit.

------------------------ Hovering above the ground ---------------
Engine on Trottle idle (no trottle)
parking brakes on
Now put VTOL (F8) to full above the ground reduce trottle
Aply trolle power to 50 %
keep the nose strait.
switch on Autopilot and switch on wing lever

You are now hovering above the ground
between 23 - 24 Kts try your rudder to make horizontal turns.
Try to land with 20 Kts and to hover again....
If you land with les than 20 Kts and with the nose a little big down
it can happen that you drill yourself into the ground..

It will take some practice but .................... Thats the fun of it.

Now you can hover.... Lets fly

--------------------------Flying the M400----------------------------------------
Take off
manual so no autopilot
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Switch on engine
set parkingbrakes on
set VTOL (in other planes the Flap key) to Full F8
full Trottle (and off we go)
switch parking brakes off

You are now in the lifting mode with 29-32 Kts. you see that you
are rising fast. Watch your nose. trim

at the desired hight turn off vtoll in steps. other wise you will
get a to great balloon effect.
You see that the speed increases and you also will rise very fast
Use your nose trim
With full trottle the speeds are

VTOL at 40% = speed 30-31 Kts
VTOL at 30 % = speed 37-39 Kts
VTOL at 20% = speed 49-51 Kts
VTOL at 10% = speed 76-80 Kts
VTOL at 0 % = cruise speed between 310 Kts to 350 Kts

in cruise use the autopilot IAS (speed hold) option
and use your nose trim.....
use autopilot for controled flights. use OBS and VOR settings
watch the digital trim indicators and the AOA these are very usefull
gauges.

In controled flights use the GPS to fly from A to B.
In the virtual cockpit you will find a special GPS gauge.. this
gauge display the NM to go and if the needle points to the dot
you know that you are flying in the right direction.
Use after flightplanner set.

Take off in controled mode

switch engines on if they where shutdown
set parking brakes to on
switch Autopilot on
set Alt to (example) 300 ft
switch alt on
engage speed hold
set VTOL to 10 %
check trim indicators set to 00 or to TO (take off) setting
set speed hold to 65 kts
Turn on FD (flight director)
turn Parking brakes off

if neccesary pull up very slow and a very little bit
the m400 will now raise to 300 ft and stabelise itself.
flighing with 65 Kts Nose -10 deg. Vtol 10 % Power 51
in auto trottle.

Now you can increase or decrees your speed and alt.

you are now cruising with 65 kts at 300 ft. use HDG in
autopilot for automatic course.. or use manual flying and
course selector. ect.ect.

------------------- Landing the M400 --------------------------------------------
First pick your place to land.
When you are almost there then reduce your speed to 150 Kts.
then aply 10 % VTOL trim nose down and use elevators to keep
your alt. then aply 20% VTOL ect. util you reach total VTOL with
full trottle.. you also have to go to 400 feet above the grond then
slowly reduce power.... Keep your Kts between 18 - 20 Kts. and keep
your nose strait. That will give you a smooth landing.

Also here goes... A little training... is nececary... Good Luck and
save landings.


----------------------------------- TIPS ---------------------------------------------
Tip 1: Switching from scenery to scenery... First switch off or shudown
the engines.
Tip 2: I am into the ground how do i resolve this.
save this situation. example test then reset flight. you are back
on your wheels again.
use this also if window end of flight apears....
but then first see flight analyse to see what you have done wrong.
Tip 3: I am in a Stall what to do.... VTOLL of o% or press F5 trottle idle
balance the car again and then aply trottle again or, and VTOL.
Tip 4: If you want to fly a long distance then use Aircraft realism settings
engines and apply unlimited fuel.
