Scotland Airport Scenery - SCTLND02
01-March-02

INTRO
This scenery is an update of my FS2000 Scotland scenery to allow use of Bob
Wittick's 'Aeronautical Tours of Scotland' document with the FS2002 scenery.
The update includes added airports, NDBs, VORs, ILSs, and coastal lighthouses.
Flying this tour in FS2002 is spectacular in my opinion, particularly the
flight from Inverness down Loch Ness and back.

Included are 89 additional airports and 73 coastal lighthouses. In some cases
scenery was added to the existing FS2002 airports. I also updated the tour
document to fit the additions and changes in FS2002. The updated tour is
included.

Each airport has it's own BGL file(s) so it can be replaced with some other
third-party scenery. There are a few FS2002 Scotland scenery packages available
on SurClaro (see below).

Since I had little information on specific airport layout, the added private
airports probably do not match the actual airport except for runways, runway
type, length, width and heading. Any scenery at these airports is strictly from
my imagination.

CHANGES
Changes from my FS2000 Scotland Scenery (SCTLND01):
- relocated Sullom Voe oil terminal to correct position
- relocated Flotta oil terminal to correct position
- replaced three airports dropped in FS2002 (UK04, FLH, UK06)
- added 13 new private airports (ST07, ST08, ST09, ST27, ST41, ST44, ST52,
ST63, ST69, ST74, ST77, ST83, ST85)
- updated airports per e-mail suggestions
- added missing runways to EGER
- added closed airports to menu (viewable on GPS)
- added static aircraft to most new airports
- changed the tour document to reflect FS2002 changes (airport elevations,
runway IDs, new NDB, ATIS changes)

INSTALLATION
Make a new scenery directory or folder named SCOTLAND with SCENERY and TEXTURE
subdirectories within. Place the BGL files contained in SCTBGL02.ZIP into the
SCENERY subdirectory (except for TREES_0.BGL covered later).

Place the textures contained in TXTR.ZIP into the TEXTURE subdirectory. The
following generic texture files from AIRPORT v2.10, ASD, and VOD can be placed
in the FS2002\TEXTURE subdirectory (delete or overcopy if duplicates):

all files in txtapt.zip
all files in txtasd.zip
all files in txtvod,zip

To support the TREES library make a new scenery directory someplace (same place
you made the above SCOTLAND folder) called TREES. Under the TREES directory
make SCENERY and TEXTURE subdirectories. Place TREES_0.BGL into the SCENERY
subdirectory and unzip the TXTTREES.ZIP file into the TEXTURE subdirectory.

Place the following text/WORD/GIF files into the SCOTLAND directory:
SCT-APT2 (WORD)
SCTLND02.TXT (Text)
TOUR2.DOC (Word)
FILE_ID.DIZ (Text)
SCTLND02.GIF

Activate the scenery by adding both SCOTLAND and TREES to FS2002's "Scenery
Library" - alt-W-I; Add Area; select above directories and complete entry for
each new area (SCOTLAND and TREES).

NOTES
Be careful landing at some of the new airports. A number of them are located in
deep valleys with tricky approaches over the hills.

Get a map of Scotland to use as you fly, it will improve your enjoyment of the
tour and enhance your knowledge of the geography of Scotland - even an old
National Geographic map or copy an atlas page.

The ST?? airport IDs were assigned by me to accommodate the scenery development
program and to provide an ID for the GPS view of FS2002. Some of the other IDs
are carry-overs from the original Scotland scenery by Bob Wittick and may not
now be correct.
