FS2002, Recife, Brazil. Guararapes International Airport

This scenery is an edit on my scenery of Recife, created for FS2000. There were some texture issues with the old scenery, and rather than put out a fix, I decided to create a new airport, which correctly duplicates the real thing. In this scenery I have completely changed the airport layout, buildings, runways, and static aircraft to resemble the real airport. In the process, everything was simplified resulting in lower frame rates, and a much easier airport to fly in and out of. The simplification also allowed me to put in more detail in terms of signage, lighting, and taxi stripes, especially in the gate area. This scenery should also work fine in FS2000.

Installation:

In order to get all the detail of the Finger Gates you will need to download the Nova Texture library. These textures should be part of your texture file if you are using custom designed scenery, as many designers are using Nova, and Nova objects in their scenery design. You can obtain them by going to the main Nova site, at: www.fsnova.com. Go to downloads and download all 4 of the texture files: NovaGt1.zip, NovaTxt3.zip, NovaTxt2.zip, and NovaTxt1.zip. Then extract them all into your main FS Texture file.

1. Extract the file into a temporary folder named whatever you like. If you have my old Recife scenery installed, go into Flight Simulator, then go to World, then Scenery Library, highlight Recife, and delete it. Then go into your FS Scenedb folder and change the name on your Recife folder to something else like Rec., or Guar., and you can either leave it there if you think you like it better, or take it out, or if you don't want it at all just delete it, you don't need those spotty airliners anyway.

2. Go into your temporary folder, and you should find another folder named Recife. Take out the Recife folder and put it in your FS Scenedb folder.

3. Then go into Flight Simulator, then into World, and Scenery Library. In Scenery Library click Add Area, and it will bring up a window with your various FS folders. Click on Scenedb, then find the Recife folder and click on it. In FS2002 the scenery name will automatically appear in the text box, but in FS2000 and earlier you must type the scenery area name, or you will have a blank spot in the scenery library. Now simply click OK, and your new scenery will be installed.

4. This one has another step, since I excluded and flattened the area, to get rid of the default airport, and to make sure runways, grass, etc. did not run under, or over ground. To install the exclude and flatten switches all you need to do is copy the following lines, then go into your FS main Scenery Config. file, and find Recife which should be all the way at the bottom of the list since you just installed it. You will see a line which reads Layer, with a number, which will vary depending on how many custom sceneries you have. Click at the end of the layer line and hit enter which will bring your cursor to the next blank line, then paste the Exclude and Flatten lines there, and you're done!
These are the lines to copy and paste:

Exclude=S8 6.8,W34 55.91,S8 9.05,W34 54.55,objects
Flatten.0=35,S8 6.77,W34 56.08,S8 6.82,W34 54.43,S8 9.09,W34 54.42,S8 9.16,W34 56.02

I would like to thank John de Langristin for his fantastic city macros, parked cars, and static aircraft. I would also like to thank Paul Harmon for his hangar macros, my favorites, I use them in all my designs, and Fredrick Neeb for his Bus macros, and Mike Wallace for his stair macros. Without all these guys, there would be no finishing touches to scenery design. I would also like to give a big thanks to Rafael Garcia Sanchez and his wonderful Nova program, which I hope to be using a lot more of in my future designs.
Hope you enjoy your new Airport at Recife! Happy Flying Bill Melichar bilboyz@aol.com
