FOREWORD
----------------
You can surely find on the net an MD11 much better than this one: I'm referring to the Alain Capt's 'Srmd11' wich is simply almost 100% close to the real. Believe me, as a retired airline pilot I can say that everything in that panel is perfectly working as I was used to do in my job. However, this implies a deep knowledge of the machine that you can achieve studying the tutorial included in the Srmd11 package: I strongly recommend to download the above aircraft.

This panel has been created to make things more affordable by non pilot simmers, using a modified photographic background and with continuous reference to an official panel layout I own. Due to the high fidelity with the reality, things may still look rather complicated and need a certain amount of practice to avoid unexpected situations while flying, but I'm sure that after a few attempts the simmers will enjoy using it.
I would suggest to have a look to the .jpg which is included in this file.

NOTE 1
----------
Some buttons and switches are shown just to reproduce the reality, but they do not work.

NOTE 2
----------
I made an extensive use of default fs2k2 gauges and also FS2000 Concorde gauges, so you MUST HAVE the 'Concorde.gau' in your Fs2k2 Gauges folder!

NOTE 3
----------
One very interesting feature enclosed in this panel is an FMC gauge providing lots of useful flight informations and aural calls, like i.e. actual A/c weights in Kgs.,T/O and LDG Speeds, gear, flap positions calls and so on. It can be displayed by clicking over the little button 'FMC' placed on the autopilot panel. This window shows several types of A/c's at each click, starting from the A300 and sorted alphabetically by type; just remember TO CHOOSE THE MD11 A/c: selecting this aircraft, the figures and calls seem to work well enough.
However, to hear the aural calls you must download a remarkable amount of Tom Corson's .wav files, all beginning with 'TC_xxxx.wav' and install them in your main Fs2002 Sound folder: it shouldn't be very difficult to find them on the main FS sites.
I didn't enclose them in this release just to keep the size of this zip file within reasonable limits.

WARNING: IF YOU DON'T SELECT THE CORRECT TYPE OF AIRCRAFT YOU'LL GET WRONG FIGURES AND CALLS! EVEN WITH THE CORECT CHOICE, YOU PROBABLY SHOULD HEAR A LOUD HORN PLAYING, INDICATING A WRONG T/O CONFIGURATION: JUST SELECT T/O MODE IN THE FMC WINDOW AND SET THE FLAPS DOWN UNTIL THE HORN STOPS! AT THIS POINT, SET THE STABILIZER TRIM TO 10-14 NOSE UP AND YOU ARE READY TO GO. I RECOMMEND A VERY SMOOTH ROTATION, REACHING THE PROPER T/O ATTITUDE OF ABOUT 10°-15° IN THREE SECONDS TO AVOID STRIKING THE TAIL AGAINST THE GROUND.
DURING FLAPS RETRACTION OR EXTENSION YOU MUST OPERATE THE FLAP LEVER UNTIL YOU HEAR "SPEED CHECKED, FLAPS.......": THIS IS DUE TO SOME FLAPS/SLATS POSITIONS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 'aircraft.cfg' FILE. IF YOU FORGET TO SET THE FLAPS TO THE REQUESTED POSITION, YOUR COPILOT WILL KEEP ON CALLING......
IN THE APPROACH PHASE BE CAREFUL TO STAY BELOW THE MLW (Maximum Landing Weight) USING A REASONABLE FUEL QUANTITY, LET'S SAY ABOUT 30% IN EACH TANK; YOU CAN ALSO ....PLAY WITH THE ZERO FUEL SHOWN IN THE FMC...JUST TRY IT!

INSTALLATION
--------------------
It's very simple: just extract the whole contents of this zip in the FS2002 'aircraft' folder. That's all.
Warning: don't forget to also extract the included 'gauges.zip' into the FS2k2/main Gauge.

CREDITS

I deeply thank all the following Authors:

First of all, Mr Peter Salzano, for his beautiful .mdl and textures and his kind permission given to me.
Tom Corson, programmer of the TC.FMC.gau.
The 'wizard' Tony D'Ambrosio for his unbeatable freeware RealCRT.NDs gauge (copyright), which in my opinion still remains one of the best.
HGHB authors of the Gauges used in this panel.
FPDA authors of the Gauges used in this panel.
Other gauges Programmers (so many it would be too long to name them all!).
Last but not least, Alain Capt, whose beautiful Srmd11 inspired me.
