Turn on Word Wrap !! Go to Full Screen !! *** This Freeware Panel Is For FS2002 ***
BOEING 737-200/300/400/500 CAPTAIN, FIRST OFFICER and VFR PANELS.
===========================================================
This panel is an update to my FS2000 panel 737trio.zip, (trionote.zip and trionotu.zip).
Tested and flown in 1024 x 768 by Eric W Davis, on a p4 2.53 mhz with 500 mg ram and a 128 mb Nvidia Riva TI-4200 card, on a 17" monitor, using WinXp Pro. My frame rate runs about 25 minimum - yours may be slower.
------------------------------
ABOUT THIS PANEL It is made for FS2002 only, and tested in WinXp Pro using FS2002 Pro version.
------------------------------ It should also work in FS2002 Standard version. There is no VC panel.
This panel has been late coming to market due to some gauges which were incompatible with FS2002 and/or WinXp. These have now been found and removed. The panel for FS2004 is 4ed-737.zip.
1) The DEFAULT panel.cfg is for use with the default b737-400 which comes with the sim. This gives you the Microsoft internal views plus a Cabin view.
2) The MAIN panel.cfg is for any other FREEWARE 737-200/300/400/500 aircraft. It works particularly well with the FFX aircraft, which will give you wing/engine views at Right/rear and Left/rear, as well as ALL other views.
I suggest you make two panel files under FS2002\Aircraft\Fsfsconv\. Call one Default-737, and the other Main-737. Then put one panel.cfg in each, after removing the DEFAULT and MAIN from the name. See " TO SET UP THE PANEL ", below. Panel.cfg must be called just that, or it will not work.
3) This panel now features working reverser lights, when you press F2. See Credits No. 13.
4) I have set-up the panel for the easy use of Shift + 1, +2, and +3 keys, which toggle the VFR, HUD and GPS.
5) The HUD supplied is by Eric Marciano. The panel.cfg file also has a set-up for the HUD by Jon Gibbs. You will have to download this file ** JGHGSV2.ZIP ** from SurClaro or SurClaro.com at 1,686 kb. I highly recommend this file. You MUST read and understand the docs to gain the benefit of this HUD, which has a landme function.

RADIOS WILL NOT WORK If you do not read the radio.txt file and change the Aircraft.cfg file for EACH aircraft that is using ------------------------------- this panel. This includes the default aircraft.

TO INSTALL THE PANEL
------------------------------------
Unzip the file to a temp folder. Open the gauge folder and copy the gauges to your main gauge folder under FS2002, thus:- FS2002\Gauges. Open the sound folder and copy the sound files to your main FS2002 sound folder. Then open the panel folder, and copy the contents into the panel folder of the aircraft where you want to use the panel. Or you can be clever and read "To Set Up The Panel".

TO SET UP THE PANEL
---------------------------------
For a panel you intend to use in different aircraft it is best to set it up as follows.
In windows explorer; click on FS2002, then click on aircraft, scroll down till you find Fsfsconv, (If you do not have this folder - then make one), click on this, then click on File, select New on the menu, and create new folder. Rename this folder to panel.2ed-737. Or
create two folders named DEFAULT-737, and MAIN-737 as above. Do nothing further at this time. Open up the zip file which contains this panel in Winzip or similar. Select all files, then extract to a temp file. Next open the gauges folder and copy the gauges into your main gauges folder. Then open the panel folder and copy the contents to panel.2ed-737. The new panel files should now be in Fsfsconv\panel.2ed-737. NOTE:- If you make the two folders, you must copy the panel files to each folder, then add one panel.cfg to each. Don't forget to rename them to "panel.cfg".
Select your Boeing 737, click on panel, then on panel.cfg to open it. You will see:-
[fltsim]
,alias=b737_400\panel ** Put a comma at the start of this line, (as shown), then type:-
alias=fsfsconv\panel.2ed-737. Or \panel.default-737 or panel.main-737. Save the file and exit. The 737 will now contain the new panel. When you do this you only install the panel (or sound) once, but can use it in all the aircraft that have been aliased to it.

BOEING FEMALE VOICE ALTITUDE CALLOUT by Aaron Swindle
-----------------------------------------------------
I contacted Aaron about this file which I could no longer find at FlightSim. He suggested that I include it in this panel.
To install; unzip to a temp folder, then copy only the sound files to the FS2002\Sounds. Be aware they will overwrite your existing "Boeing" call out sounds, so back them up first. When landing, sit back and enjoy the best sounding altitude call outs you have ever heard. Very clear, calm, and with no pressure. Of course if the 50', 40', 30', 20', and 10' calls come very fast, you are allowed to sweat a little, because buddy :- "You are in BIG trouble".

HOW TO USE THIS PANEL [ Shift key plus number key; NOT numpad key ]
-------------------------------------
Shift+1 toggles the VFR panel. Shift+2 toggles the HUD. Shift+3 toggles the GPS.
Shift+4 toggles the Capt. panel. Shift+5 toggles the FO panel. Shift+6 toggles the Capt. yoke.
Shift+7 toggles the FO Yoke. Shift+8 toggles the Fuel panel.

When loading the panel boots into the VFR panel view. On the radio computer you will see two buttons marked 1 and 2. Click on 1 for the left seat, and 2 for the right seat. Now for the hard part!! To change from either main panel, move the mouse to the bottom RH corner of the screen, where the pointer will change into a hand after finding the hot switch, and click zee mouse. This takes you back to the VFR panel. See! I said it takes 2 clicks to change panels. And I hope you noticed that when changing from any panel to another, you do NOT have to adjust your view, because it does not alter.

I do hope that you guys are reading this, as it is not easy to write and try to sound as if you really know what you are talking about.

IMPORTANT From the VFR panel go to each of the other panels BEFORE opening any other windows. If you do not do ------------------ this you may find that the GPS opens behind the panel:- This makes it hard to see.
Each main panel has a Kneeboard, ATC, Map, Yoke and GPS toggle. The VFR has the first three plus a GPS, HUD and Fuel panel toggle. The fuel panel has Concorde ignition and generator switches, they are the only Concorde files used in this panel.
The Concorde gauges are available at Simviation.com/fsgauges6htm as a 1.4mb download. Useful to have as they are still used in various panels.

TO USE THE HUD On the VFR panel click on the HUD icon, then close the VFR panel with Shift+1. The Hud will now ------------------------- be it's full size. I find it helps to have the GPS open, with either HUD. If you download the Jon Gibbs HUD, put the jg_hgsa.gauge into your main gauges folder. Then open the panel.cfg and scroll to Window 01, there are ( 2 ) of these, and instructions in the panel.cfg file TELL you what to do.

THE OVERHEAD PANEL
----------------------------------
I have totally redesigned this and installed mouse switches. Locate the parking brake switch!

CHANGES YOU CAN MAKE If you do not like the the clicking noise of the Trim Sound, open the panel.cfg and scroll --------------------------------------- to gauge 29 in the VFR panel and put a comma at the start, save file and exit.

THE FUEL PANEL
-------------------------
Contains 3 fuel gauges, 2 ignition and 2 generator switches, and a fuel crossfeed switch. Turn off one ignition switch and listen to the engine spool down. Sounds good even with the default sound. Turn the switch back on and the engine will restart after the fan speed builds up. The engines can be started with the ignition switches or by clicking auto start on the overhead panel. Use
these features to drop an engine on take off or landing. The fuel panel is only available from the VFR panel as it developed the nasty habit of opening behind the main panels. I have added fuel gauges to the FO panel because of this. Now if opened from the VFR panel, when you change panels it is visible. To close it press Shift+8 or go back to the VFR panel to close it.

HOW THIS PANEL EVOLVED AS I KNOW IT
---------------------------------------------------------------
The original bitmap was done by Vanessa Leightower.
I found the one used by Medi D Handoeran in his p737mx2.zip. His idea of using the computers for the radio and other gauges,
created a lot of space for the main gauges.
I have altered the main panel, making it longer and filling in nearly all of the excellent shading done by Medi, as well as making the surround for the backup attitude gauge. The fuel gauges, mach gauge and computers are all that is left from his panel. I have totally reworked the overhead panel, and made the FO and VFR panels, redone the yoke so it looks more like the real ones in the photo.
I have repainted the combination gauge, and made 4 bitmaps for the RKG_button gauge.

7] 10-12-01 aa734rc.zip Boeing 737-400 default American Airlines Real Chrome Reflective Textures
This is my all time favourite default repaint. File size is 1,816,744.

FAULTS YOU MAY THINK EXIST - BUT DO NOT
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1] The center fuel tank gauge does not register.
2] The center fuel tank gauge only reads half full.
In the sim go to Aircraft\Fuel, and check on the tank capacities for your aircraft.

GAUGES
-------------
I have checked the gauge properties and renamed all gauges to what appear to be their correct names.
All non-default gauges carry the prefix 2ed-. The 2ed- gauges are either:- Freeware; from M/S 98; or altered by me.
To prevent it being over written, I have renamed the RKG buttons gauge as it now contains 4 of my bitmaps. For this panel it is now 2ed_buttons_gauge.

ERATA:- I have found most people I have come in contact with in the Flight Sim World to be very helpful.
The first "help me please" email I ever sent was to Ron Ackerley in early 2000. I had loaded his Piper Super Cub Wilderness Outfitter Float Plane and I had 3 missing gauges on the panel and did nor know how to fix it. He led me by the hand and told me how it was done. I had many enjoyable flights around Alaska in that aircraft. That was also my first experience at how gauges and panels work.
Robert K Guy was very helpful when I could not get his RKG_button.gauge to work in FS2002. That proved to be an incompatability problem.
Search at F-sim or Avsim for Peter Mess and A J Nikoley. They both do very good FFX repaints and some of these are full files,
complete with the model. You need nothing else, except my panel.

I will attempt to help simmers having problems with my panels, but only if they use the "Secret Password", which is please.
That will prove that they really did read "The Readme"!!!
