Title: Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Arizona SRTM30_1ArcSec Terrain Mesh
This 38m terrain mesh is centered at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
in southern Arizona, bordering to Mexico. Coverage area: From West 112.4° to
West 113.3° and North 31.8° to North 32.6°. It includes the National Monument,
the Town of Ajo and surrounding mountains.
Nearest airport in this area: Takeoff at Ajo Mun [P01]
and fly in southern direction into the Park.
The big 'crater' south of Ajo is not a scenery error, it is an open pit
copper mine about 1,000 ft deep and 1.5 miles wide.
This terrain mesh is based on USGS SRTM30 1 arc-second digital elevation models,
resampled to LOD10 (38.2 meters). SRTM30 is a near-global digital elevation
model (DEM) comprising a combination of data from the NASA Space Shuttle Radar
Topography Mission (SRTM), flown in February 2000, and the US Geological Survey's
GTOPO30 data set. Sample spacing for the fundamental data set is 1 arc-second
in latitude and longitude (approx. 30 meters at the equator).
