FS2002/FS2004 Martin PBM-5 "Mariner"

The Mariner was used in many roles during WW2. Over 1000 were built and eventually they replaced the aging Catalina's (PBY's). They did their jobs well and were liked by their crews. After the war several were assigned to the Coast Guard mainly for "Search and Rescue" missions. I had the chance to see some of these birds at San Diego, Ca. in 1960. This model represents one of those craft. Many thanks to Mick Morrissey for providing me several photo's and other data that allowed me to create a representative livery.
I designed this project with FSDSv2.24 and compiled it directly into FS2004. I copied it back into FS2002 and it works in that sim. The model has full moving parts, transparent windows, navigation and landing lights and a specular color shine.

INSTALLATION: Unzip PBM5.zip into a temporary folder. Copy the file PBM-5 MARTIN MARINER into the simulator's "Aircraft" folder. Open the gauges folder and copy the contents into the simulator'e "Gauges" folder. Close everything and fire up the simulator. This plane should appear under Martin as PBM-5 Martin Mariner in the Aircraft selection list.

PANEL: I couldn't find any info on the Mariner panel so I created my own. I used a CFS2 B-25 panel bitmap by Chuck Selby on the premise the B-25 greenhouse was similar to the Mariner. I removed some obvious B-25 stuff and made a few other tweaks. The vintage gauges are by Phil Profili.

SOUND: I aliased the c182 sound file to save space but you will want to change it to a robust recip sound. I am enamoured with the Convair 340 sound file available on Tom Gibson's www.calclassic.com web site. (I recommend this site for lots of goodies!)

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise just give me credit for the original design. This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
