FS2002 AFCAD Gran Canaria & Gando Airforce Base

One Overlay at Gran Canaria (GCLP) largest and busiest airport of the Canary Islands for the Gando Airforce Base situated in the same spot but with a separate runway.
GCLP and GCAB (unreal name but REAL airport) Afcad files

See F15 and F18 taking off simultaneously with large commercial aircrafts on 2 parallel runways!
Created, built and tested by Ronald R. Cachemaille

I have included a demo flight plan on how to use both airports at the same time.

Read up on AFCAD’s instruction manual to find out how to direct the aircraft to the respective overlays.

AFCAD Files:
____________________

The previous GCLP AFCAD File which I published with my “Canary Islands Traffic AI Package” (03/01/03) FlightSim file Name: Binatr04.zip) was created by Richard Mohammed.
I have redesigned from scratch that Airport afcad file and divided the Gran Canaria airport in 3 terminal as in the real thing. I have in project to have the “real” gates installed when somebody creates the long awaited Gran Canaria Airport Scenery.
The Air force Base of Gando (GCAB) has been designed from scratch too, trying to give a touch of realism of the situation of the different aircrafts parkings.

Note of interest for AFCAD enthusiasts:
Following the instructions of Lee Swordy (Afcad.exe Help) about achieving a good use of two runways (overlay) with different flight plans by the corresponding aircrafts, I have had some problems until achieving the CORRECT situation of both “Airport Reference Points”. As he said, it is more a question of trying until a correct result is obtained as it does not correspond to any afcad designing criteria. The result as shown here as surprising:

Aircrafts in one runway normally ignore aircrafts in the other overlay so they may rarely pass through. I have designed the taxiways on both files as separated as possible to avoid that..

Installation:
________________

Just install GCLP1.txt and GCAB1.txt with the excellent “AFInstaller” from Lee Swordy

You MUST (of course) create the GCAB airport. For this you need to be familiar with the indispensable Traffic Tools (from Lee Swordy too!)

Just add the line :
GCAB,N27* 55.87',W15* 23.07',58
in the airport.txt

Sceenery:
_____________

To be used with the excellent Canary Islands Sceenery: FS2002 Scenery--Canary2003 by Toni Agramont.
File in FlightSim:canary03.zip

The *.BGL files of Gran Canaria airport are from an old FS95 scenery. You can easily get rid of the static airplanes (worth than a virus when you use AI flights intensely) by replacing the GCLPAirp.bgl (normally in ADDON SCENERY) by the GCLPAirp.bgl included. You should also get rid of all the IB737*.* in the textures SubDir..

Aircrafts
_______________

For more “real” performance, you should download some (GMax or AI compatible) military aircrafts and dedicate them to fly on GCAB.

Tests of simultaneous AI flights on both runways:
__________________________________________________

All flight Plans using both GCLP & GCAB are working perfectly and create a perfect dual traffic situation, and have been tested successfully on a Pentium IV 2,4 512 RAM, GeoForce 4 64 Mb WINXP PRO and FS2002 AI option at 100%.
