Britten Norman BN2A Islander, G-AXVR "Capt E E Fresson OBE"

Textures by Alistair Brydon

INSTALLATION:

You need to have installed the BN2 Islander by Marcel Kuhnt (eg: dilfa30.zip )

Then unzip this folder to a temporary folder of your creation. Place the .bmp file named "texture.axvr" in the main BN2 folder in FS2002.

Next copy and paste the contents of the text file "axvr" into the aircraft.cfg file in the main BN2 folder (its the one with the computer icon). You can open this using Microsoft word. Ensure that the first line [fltsim.X] is changed in sequence (eg; [fltsim.0], then [fltsim.1], [fltsim.2] etc..

If in doubt check the format is the same as one of the default aircraft such as the Cessna-172. Save the aircraft.cfg folder. I'm not aware of the limit to the number of paint schemes you can have per aircraft:- its at least 20.

Thats it...

Background: Delivered in 1973 and sold-on in 1977, this aircraft flew numerous Loganair routes for the developing airline. Ambulance flights were also part of it's remit. Many scheduled destinations were tried during the 1970's, some lasting only a season or so. G-AXVR would have made scheduled flights to places like Connel, Mull, Coll, Dornoch, Skye, Hoy and Fetlar: airstrips which are now only rarely visited by aircraft at-all. This paint scheme was worn by Loganair's fleet from the early 1970's until about 1986, when it was revamped.
It was named "Capt E E Fresson" after Ted Fresson, founder of Highland Airways at Inverness in the early 1930's, whose fleet of Dragons & Rapides opened-up many routes in the north of Scotland.

I am very grateful to Marcel Kuhnt for his excellent creation of this Islander model, and for agreeing to this repaint.
