North 2501D Noratlas Luftwaffe
************************************

June 15, 1956, is signed a Franco-German agreement for construction under licence of Noratlas. The first 25 specimens intended for the new Luftwaffe were built in France. the others were built by Northern Flugzeugbau (Norflug). On the whole 187 N 2501D were built.

The aircraft was mainly operated by LTG 61, LTG 62 and LTG 63. The last operational flight of the "Nora" in the Luftwaffe was accomplished by an aircraft of the LTG 61 on June 30, 1971.

The aircrafts built in Germany had the doors of the nose landing gear closed on the ground, antennas positioned differently, and the pitot-tubes on the roof.

The aircraft coded GA+108 was the N2501D N°110, operated by 1.LTG 61, it was coded 52+92, then sold to the company Elbeflug (D-acud) before being destroyed

The aircraft coded GC+112 was the N2501D N°76, operated by LTG 63, it made its first flight on November 9, 1959, with Josef Wiesmaier as "Flugingenieur". put out of the service in Luftwaffe, it was yielded to Greece.

IMPROVEMENTS
************************************

Compared to the preceding versions of Noratlas, Nora profits from the following IMPROVEMENTS:

- the WHEELS are (finally) mobile,

- the CREW passed to three men (the radio operator and the navigator drew the curtains from their station, and I respect their intimacy.)

- the NOSE GEAR is directional only on the ground;

- the switch "landing light" commands at the same time the ROLLING AND LANDING LIGHTS. But the taxi light functions only on the ground and at a speed between 0 and 20 kts. The landing lights function only at one speed higher than 20 kts.
This compromise seems more realistic to me, rolling, only the taxi light functions (provided that you do not make an excess speed), and as of acceleration for take-off it dies out automatically and the landing lights ignite also automatically. With the landing the opposite operation is carried out.

- Lastly, the aircraft is equipped with FORMATION LIGHTS. Those function when the aircraft left the ground, at dawn, dusk and night. To implement them, you only have to switch off the "strobes". I have noticed that when the "strobes" are switched off by the switch in the cockpit, those did not flicker any more but remained sometimes lit (formation lights igniting normally). To switch off them, it is enough to press the key "O" of the keyboard. Lastly, when the navigation lights are swichted off the panellight is also switched off, but the instruments remain readable. (FS2K2 remains still full with mysteries for me!)

INSTALLATION:
************************************

1. Unzip "Nora. exe "in a temporary folder
2. Run "Nora. exe "
3. The panel is that one of the very first version whose file is called "Noratlas.zip "

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
************************************

This aircraft could be carried out only thanks to the kindness of Christian ESTIOULLE of "Noratlas de Provence" association and of Gilbert MILLAS which always has answered with much comprehension all the requests for documentation of which I attacked them.
It is the same for Werner WIESMAIER whose father took part of the teams of reception of Nora built in Germany.

Lastly, on the technical level, the improvements were made possible only thanks to Mike CROSTHWAITE, a true benefactor of FS-community with his SDL Editor file

DISTRIBUTION
************************************

This file is freeware, it can be used and distributed without my authorization, with the express condition that its use or distribution does not give place to any direct or indirect payment.
If you wish to modify textures, you can do it without particular authorization.
If you wish to put these textures on the Net, I simply ask you to inform me and not to put the whole aircraft on the Net, but only the new set of textures indicating the version of Noratlas for which it is intended. That is only intended to make sure the basic versions are not multiplied.

Best regards for all those who are interested by the Noratlas.
