FS2002 1946 Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser

This is another plane I became acquainted with during my early flying days in the late 1940's in Bozeman, Montana. It was unique in that it seated 3 people in a tandem arrangement (one in front - the pilot, and two in back). It was a follow-on to the J-5 Cruiser and had a more powerful 100 hp engine. In some ways it was the predecessor to the famous PA-18 Super Cub. This FSDS project features moving parts including rolling wheels, a pilot figure and transparent windows. I used Paul Matt's excellent drawings for backgrounds. I also used Dave Eckerts pilot figure for reference and created my own just to reduce the polygon count. I compiled it directly into FS2002 and have not tried it in any other sim. I'd also like to thank Brian Gladden for the use of his pilot face texture.

INSTALLATION: Unzip PA12.zip into a temporary folder. Copy Piper PA-12 into the Aircraft folder of FS2002. Open the gauges folder and copy the contents into the Gauges folder of FS2002. Close everything and fire up FS2002. This plane should show under Piper as the PA-12 in the aircraft selection list.

PANEL: Paul Matts drawings had a simple sketch of a PA-12 panel which I used as a backgound for this project. The vintage gauges are mostly from Phil Profili; I don't know the original creator's of the others.

SOUND:I aliased the C182 sound to save file space but I heartily recommend Aaron Swindel's Piper Super Cub sounds available on most flight sim web sites.

LEGAL: This project is released as freeware. You may modify it, repaint it, etc., upload to another website as long as it is not for profit. You need my written permission to use any of these files for commercial purposes; otherwise just give me credit for the original design. This airplane should not hurt your computer but I am not responsible if it causes problems.

Enjoy! Paul Clawson
