This is a detailed rendering of my home gliderport, in fact it's a bit freaky to fly over, if you happen to be familiar with the Jean airport ! Just about every detail I could think of has been rendered.

One minor (well sort of) mistake was made in that when setting the general details for the airport, I neglected to take into account the magnetic variation , so the runway orientation is off by about 15deg (darn it!). Otherwise the detail is a bit startling for me , having made almost 200 glider flights over this airport . Enjoy !

Note: Although FS98 does list the Jean Airport as having an elevation of 2832ft (which is correct), the actual ground scenery in FS was only 1000 feet . This necessitated that I set the scenery at 1000ft to avoid having FS draw mountains through it when viewing from the south side of the airport at ground level .

Installation:

Place the background files Jean1.bgl (scenery) and Jean2.bgl (thermals) in your flightsim scenery directory. If you experience program crashes, place them in their own folder within the scenery directory (FS\Scenery\Jean\scenery\> and make them active in the scenery library . Place the .STN file in your Pilots directory .

The flight:

I have set up a simulated winch (more like a catapult!) to get you in the air from rwy 20L . There is no major challenge intended...the valley is boomin' with lift ! You should have no trouble making it all the way to Las Vegas, about 25mi to the N-NE, and no FAA guy will bust you for violating the class bravo airspace for McCarren Intl Airport :>

Note:Due to the FS discrepency with altitudes and my error on rwy headings, use the startup situation provided to avoid being placed above the ground offline with the rwys .

Happy Flying !

Chris
