Introduction:
============
Second version of re-painted FS98 Textures files BURB.R8 and BURB2.R8 and now BURB3.R8 intended to replace the three standard FS98 "burb" textures. The re-paint lessens the grid-like blocks of the original texture by adding curved and diagonal streets, more colour, more trees and some night lighting. This second version is not an upgrade or correction to my NEWBURB.ZIP it simply has many more red roofs and looks great in those areas of the world where red roof tiles are normal; elsewhere it can look a little OTT (over the top). If these are too red for you, try the first version (NEWBURB.ZIP).
Installation:
============
First, backup the original files in your FS98 [Textures] folder named "burb.r8" "burb2.r8" and "burb3.r8".
Then, unzip, drag, or copy the "burb.r8" "burb2.r8" and "burb3.r8" files from the zip file into your FS98 [Textures] folder.
If you wish, you can simply let the new files overwrite the originals without backing them up first since you can easily re-install the originals from the FS98 CD-ROM.
Also, if you wish, you could use a re-named copy of the "burb.r8" file in this zip (or even better use the version in NEWBURB.ZIP) to replace the texture file "urbburb.r8" (note the double 'b') as this texture is also used in some cities/scenery.
Notes
=====
As with all tiled scenery, if it goes out of focus try zooming right in, then right out again, a couple of times.
The two original FS98 "burb" and "burb2" files are slightly different from each other. My replacements are not - I have replaced both originals with the same re-painted file. However, in this second edition I have 'flipped' the "burb2" tile so as to produce a better pattern of streets where both tiles are used together in one area (e.g. Manchester, UK or Amsterdam, Netherlands).
Third-party scenery may have its own version of the 'burb' textures in its specific Texture folder. If so, you may wish to replace this file too after backing it up.
