RAF Watton, Norfolk, England

(Simon Lavender-Jones' East Anglia required for the runway and taxiway and the rest of East Anglia! - get it via http://www.uk-flightsim.org.uk/raf/pages/index.htm, however I have included Runway.bgl if you want to make do with second best)

Here is my effort at reproducing my local RAF station. After having a lot of fun flying over other people's creations I thought it about time I made a contribution.

Watton is officially closed but the buildings and hangars remain, although in poor shape. The airfield itself is still in regular use, however, in support of the nearby army training area and paratrooping Hercules are frequent visitors. Passing low over my house if I'm lucky. Sundry Chinooks, Pumas and Lynx pass by and Jaguars, Tornados and Harriers beat up the area. F15s from nearby Lakenheath cruise majestically overhead away from the hurly-burly down below.

A pre-war expansion station, Watton was best known for its Blenheims but was also home to the Master, B-24, B-17, Mosquito, B-26, P-38, Spitfire, Oxford, Wellington, Dominie, Anson, Lincoln, Washington, Canberra and a number of other types.

This scenery was made with Apollo's Scenery and Object Designer and Flight Shop (for the buildings). These were added as static objects using Prefab. The source and fab files are included for anyone who wants to try their hand.

Akcnowledgements to Keith Clifford (Jaguar) and Barry Blaisdell (Hercules).

Installation in FS98

Create directories thus:

Flight Sim -
Scenery-
Watton-
Scenery
Texture

From the Watton.zip put all the *.bgl files in the Scenery subdirectory and the rest in the Texture subdirectory.

The C130-1.bgl and C130-2.bgl files add the static aircraft and can be removed if you don't want them.

From the Dynamic.zip put the *bgl and *.dk$ files in the scenery subdirectory and the *.*af files in your main texture directory (for some reason FS98 needs dynamic textures to be there)

There is an ILS, Watton WN 110.50. Imaginary, but I can't land big aircraft without one. Also NDB, Watton WAT 345.0 and ATIS, Watton 118.0.

Hope that's all you need. Any comments to:
