FSX DH 106 Comet 1 and 2

Version 2.0 by Jens B. Kristensen, december 2010
Sounds by Mike Hambly, Benoit Plamondon and Mark Cranston (Aeromusica)

For FSX, FS2004 users should download Comet_V20.zip instead.

The worlds first jetliner. The Comet 1 entered sevice with BOAC in 1952,
initially on the route from London to Johannesburg.

A number of serious accidents forced an early retirement of the Comet 1
in 1954, but some Comet 1's were modified for further service
with the RCAF, and for test work in the UK.

The Comet 2 had more powerful engines and a slightly longer fuselage,
it never entered airline service but was used by the RAF transport
command for a number of years.

This package includes liveries for BOAC, Air France, UAT, Canadian Pacific
and RCAF Comet 1's, and BOAC and RAF Comet 2's.

New in this version: It now uses *.dds textures for faster loading and better
framerates. More complete virtual cockpit, several improvements
to the external model (the vertical tail surfaces), more refined textures, some
adjustments to the flight dynamics. Improved autopilot. FS2004 and FSX
versions are now two seperate downloads.

----
*To install for Flight Simulator X:

- The setup program will delete an existing install of version 1.0 of this
package, but it is probably safer to do this by hand before installing the
new version. Go to Control panel, Add/remove applications.

- Run the included setup program.

Sounds: The sound files are by Mike Hambly, Benoit Plamondon and
Mark Cranston (Aeromusica), and are included with permission. Please read
the readme_sounds file for more information!

An updated, but much bigger, version of their Comet 1 sounds ca be
downloaded from classicbritishfiles.com

----

Most gauges are by myself, but a few are standard gauges of Flight Simulator.

The ILS indicator is based on xml code by
Saviero Maurri (Vickers Varsity panel), bitmaps by me.

The autopilot is by myself, but part of the xml code (the turn button)
is inspired Saviero Maurris autopilot for the DH Dove.

A number of gauges (mostly switches) are, with permission from
Tom Gibson, www.calclassic.com, based on work by Tom himself,
Kevin Trinkle and Ernie Kennedy and Ken 'Mitch' Mitchell. I have used
bitmaps from their c-style gauges and made xml-versions of them.

----

This plane was made with FSDS 3.5.1, textures with Paint Shop Pro and DxtBmp.

It is freeware and must stay that way.

I hope you like flying the DH Comet!
