FSX and FS2004 Short S.45 Solent

By Jens B. Kristensen january 6, 2007

The Short Solent was a large and powerful flying boat airliner
of 1946. Solent 2's and 3's were in service with BOAC until 1950
on the 'Springbok' route to South Africa. The final version was the
Solent 4, built for TEAL (Tasman Empire Airways Ltd) who used them
from 1949 to 1960. One is preserved today in New Zealand.
Textures for BOAC, TEAL (early and late) and Aquila Airways included.

For more details and flying instructions see the
pdf document installed in the \Manual folder.

This model includes a reasonably accurate panel, and a
working virtual cockpit.

----

Version 2.0 for FSX and FS2004. The model now works with FSX as
well as FS2004. The panel and virtual cockpit are improved, and
the take-off is more realistic with a shorter take-off run.

Sounds: The stock Douglas DC-3 sounds are used. Replace with
more interesting propliner sounds if you wish.

----

Some gauges in the panel are from the default FS Douglas DC-3,
some of them slightly modified by Jens B. Kristensen.
The ILS gauge contains XML code by Saviero Maurri.
The OBS selector is by Hans-Joerg Naegele.

A number of gauges (mostly switches) are, with permission from
Tom Gibson, www.calclassic.com, based on work by Tom himself,
Kevin Trinkle, Ernie Kennedy and Ken 'Mitch' Mitchell. I have used
complete gauges from them (cowl flap switches), or used the
bitmaps from their c-style gauges and made xml-versions of them.
In some cases I have modified the bitmaps. Many thanks to Tom & Co.

Magneto switches, starter buttons, prop feathering buttons
and engine gauges are based on public domain gauges by
Mike (MoparMike) Wagner, converted to XML by Jens B. Kristensen.

----

This plane was originally made with FSDS 2.24, this new version
with FSDS 3.0; the textures with Paint Shop Pro and DxtBmp.

Good luck flying the Short Solent!
